``Steamed oyster course'' is the ultimate way to enjoy oysters! Ise lobsters, wagyu beef, and cruising all come true at Toba's "Yakatabune Okita"

If you are going to eat oysters in Toba, do you prefer grilled oysters? Raw oyster fan? All you can eat? Yes, you can enjoy steamed oysters at Mie Prefecture's only houseboat, ``Yakatabune Okita''! With steamed oysters, you can enjoy the fresh and delicious texture just like raw oysters. A winter-only oyster course, a single lobster sashimi, and grilled top-quality wagyu beef. I also enjoyed cruising in Toba Bay, which is the best part of houseboat riding, so I'd like to introduce you to it all!

The only one in Mie Prefecture! What is Yakatabune Okita?

Yakatabune Okita-san is the only houseboat in Mie Prefecture. You can enjoy Toba's fresh seafood throughout the year, and you can also cruise around Toba Bay, so this restaurant is highly recommended for tourists who want to enjoy something out of the ordinary.

I interviewed here for the first time in September of last year. This time we will introduce the steamed oyster course that is only available in winter.

Please see the previous report article for the first boarding report, access by car, parking details, etc. This article also introduces a shortcut on foot from Toba Station.

Toba brand oysters “Momokomachi”

Oyster season is winter! At Yakatabune Okita-san, you can enjoy Toba's brand oysters, ``Momokomachi,'' which are in season right now.

"Momokomachi" is an oyster that is caught in Momotori Town, southwest of Toshijima, a remote island in Toba.

The ocean in Momotori has very fast currents and is said to be rich in nutrients. ``Momokomachi'' is said to be plump, large, and has a strong, sweet taste!

Winter limited “Yakatabune steamed oyster course”

When it comes to eating oysters, the most common way to eat them is either grilled oysters or raw oysters, but here you can enjoy ``steamed oysters''!

Let's quickly introduce them.

5,950 yen per person (including boarding fee)

Appetizer dishes

First, ``Sawara Tataki'' was brought to us.

Every day, the ingredients you put in at that time will come out as an appetizer, so it's something to look forward to when you go!

steamed oysters

The large “Momo Komachi” introduced earlier has been transformed into a simmering clay pot!

When you open the lid of the earthenware pot, steam rises, and there are many large oysters still in their shells! ! !

That's right. Since the shell is still on, it won't turn out like an oyster pot.

When you open the shell and take a bite, the texture is fresh and soft, just like raw oysters.

However, since it's already cooked, there's no need to worry if you're concerned about eating it raw!

The mellow and rich flavor spreads throughout your mouth.

Because of the simple cooking method, I was able to enjoy the true taste of the ingredients themselves.

It's also delicious with the fresh lemon that comes with it, and the sourness matches perfectly and brings out the flavor of the oysters.

If you come to Toba, please experience steamed oysters that you can't eat anywhere else.

Assorted shellfish

Scallops, large clams, and turban shells were brought to us.

Your heart will dance with the luxurious platter!

The waitress quickly grills the food right in front of you with the chef's secret sauce.

Grilling the food retains the flavor of the ingredients, which increases the aroma and whets the appetite.

The best way to enjoy it is to simply grill it and eat it! It goes great with the secret sauce!

I'm very happy to be able to eat vegetables as well. The vegetables are also very delicious when combined with the secret sauce!

This shellfish platter is always included in any course you order all year round.

Please enjoy it when you go to Yakatabune Okita♪

Secret menu? Oyster ajillo

Ajillo was brought here.

Ajillo was also served last time I went!

However, the oysters that were not included that time were included this time! !

Apparently it's special only for this time of year.

I can't stand the chef's service spirit.

It's so delicious when eaten with bread! ! !

Maybe there will be a pleasant surprise like this for you when you go?

Finishing with seaweed porridge

I also had the green lettuce rice porridge!

The soup is full of the flavor of sea lettuce and has just the right amount of salt, which is exquisite.

I was already very satisfied, but when I made rice porridge, I was able to eat as much as I wanted and ended up asking for more.

I went there with my family this time, and everyone had a second helping!

This is a refillable menu, so please feel free to ask for a refill if you have the time.

Chef's homemade dessert

Lastly, we had apple compote!

Even after eating so much delicious food, the refreshing cold dessert was refreshing.

You can order it individually! Ise lobster sashimi and lobster soup

At Yakatabune Okita, you can actually enjoy ``Ise lobster sashimi''!

You can order individual items, so I want to try oysters, but I also have spiny lobster! Highly recommended for those who are greedy!

You will definitely be very excited when the shiny body is delivered to you!

Just by putting it on your tongue, you can feel the rich sweetness of Ise lobster. The ultimate in luxury!

There aren't many places where you can get such delicious lobster sashimi, so be sure to order it separately!

If you order this, you will also receive spiny lobster soup that is full of the delicious flavor of spiny lobster.

This was really delicious and warmed me up from the core since it was a cold day.

Ise lobster sashimi/Ise lobster soup 5,000 yen~

Not just seafood! Grilled premium wagyu beef

At Yakatabune Okita, you can also enjoy dishes other than seafood!

If you also want meat, there may be someone in your party who doesn't like seafood, right?

In such a case, we also have a Wagyu beef course!

What delicious looking meat! ! !

After grilling it a little, enjoy it immediately with our special sauce or grated ponzu sauce.

The meat was really soft and melt-in-your-mouth. Eating it with ponzu sauce was also great!

Wagyu beef course 7,800 yen (including boarding fee)

Onigiri set for children

The children were very satisfied with the set of delicious rice balls, which were made into small pieces that even small children could easily eat, and the children's favorite sausage and corn.

Onigiri set 500 yen

Is it cold on the deck in the middle of winter? Toba Bay Cruising

The interview day was in January, so it was really cold (lol)

However, I made sure to protect myself from the cold, so it was okay!

If the weather is good, you can enjoy a pleasant cruise.

Here again, we had a great time and had a great time explaining about the islands and sightseeing spots.

If you're lucky, you may even be able to see the ama diver show of MikimotoPearlIsland from a distance.

Interview with head chef Daisuke Sasaki

Lastly, we interviewed Chef Sasaki, who is always cheerful and friendly!

How did you become the head chef at Yakatabune Okita?

Nishioka: I was wondering if the head chef became a chef right after graduating from university and became the head chef at Yakatabune Okita when he was around 30 years old, but is he actually almost 50 years old? ! You look very young.

Chef: It's often said, but it's true. (lol)

Nishioka: I can't see it at all...! Have you always been in your hometown?

Chef: Nowadays, I love my hometown, but when I was in high school, I really wanted to move to the city. So I went to university in Aichi, but in the end I wanted to have a job, so I went to Tsuji Culinary Arts College.

Nishioka: Did you learn cooking there?

Chef: Yes. After graduating from vocational school, I worked at a Japanese restaurant in Kyoto for a long time until I opened the houseboat Okita in 2014.

Nishioka: In 2014, would you be in your late 30s? Did you return to your hometown around that time?

Chef: Well, I decided to start my family's marine business in Toba, but at that time, I realized that if I continued doing the same thing as before, it wouldn't go well in the future, so tourists A houseboat where you can enjoy food and cruising at the same time We built a new ship.

I see! This is how Mie Prefecture's only houseboat was created.

If you have a message for anyone reading this, please

Chef: There are oyster shacks and other places in Toba where you can eat seafood, but this is the only place where you can eat on the sea. There are many shops in this area that you can't go to without a car, but Yakatabune Okita is very close to the station, so you can walk there.

We can provide you with an extraordinary experience that you can't find at other shops, so please feel free to contact us and make a reservation. Locals are also welcome to come!

Introducing the shortest shortcut, 5 minutes walk from Toba Station!

I introduced the access in the previous article, but this time the head chef taught me a shortcut from Toba Station.

I will introduce it with photos.

First, cross the connecting bridge at Toba Station and get off the elevator.

When you exit the elevator, don't go straight forward; go backwards.

Proceed here to the back (towards the sea).

If you go here, you can see the sea. Please continue straight ahead.

I saw the houseboat Okita!

It takes about 5 minutes even if you go slowly up to this point.

If you go towards Toba Marine Terminal, it will be a bit of a detour, so please use this shortcut!

summary

This time too, the food was very satisfying for all generations, and the steamed oysters, which are only available in winter, were especially good!

I would like to recommend it to everyone so that they can enjoy it during the winter!

I'm glad I was able to have a leisurely chat with the head chef this time.

Even though it's winter now, they are open at night during the Toba Minato Festival in July and the Toba Nightly Fireworks in August.

I would definitely like to go on the houseboat Okitama at night! You have a special seat to watch the fireworks from the deck of the ship.

Everyone is welcome to come to ``Yakatabune Okita'' where you can enjoy seasonal seafood.

The reel video from the interview is also available on my Instagram! Please have a look if you like.
