Yoshitaka Kuki built the castle in 1594. Since then, it has become the headquarters of the Kuki Navy, and the Otemon gate protrudes toward the sea, making it unique in Japan.
This Otehato sluice gate served as the entrance and exit.
The former Toba Elementary School is currently built on the Ninomaru site, and the main enclosure site was used as the school's ground.
A few traces of it remain on the stone walls of the castle tower.
A monument stands on the west side of the main stone wall of Toba Castle.
