What is TsubakiGrandShrine?

TsubakiGrandShrine located in Suzuka City, SuzukaCity, is a shrine that enshrines Sarutahiko Okami as its main deity.

There are over 2,000 shrines nationwide that enshrine Sarutahiko Okami, but TsubakiGrandShrine is actually the main shrine. In Suzuka and the surrounding area, he is affectionately called "Tsubaki-san." Iregularly visit Tsubaki-san during Shinto rituals such as New Year's, Setsubun, and summer purification. As you step into the precincts, which are rich in trees, the atmosphere changes and you realize that this is a sacred place.

The main deity is Sarutahiko Okami

Thirty-two gods are enshrined in the main shrine, but the main deity is Sarutahiko Okami.

When Ninigi no Mikoto, the grandson of Amaterasu Omikami, descended to Takachiho in Kyushu on the orders of Amaterasu Omikami, Sarutahiko Omikami guided the group along the way. It is said that.

For this reason, he is called the ``God of guidance'' who guides everything in a good direction.

There are 4 types of goshuin at TsubakiGrandShrine

There are four types of goshuin that you can get at Tsubaki-san: `` TsubakiGrandShrine Shrine,'' ``Tsubakigishi Shrine,'' ``Jurojin,'' and ``Sansha Ryujin.'' The stamp of "Sansha Ryujin" will be received on paper. This time I received a stamp from TsubakiGrandShrine.

Betsugu Tsubakigishi Shrine

If you leave the main Betsugu and go down a little to the left, you will find Tsubakikishi Shrine.

The main deity here is Amen no Uzume no Mikoto, the wife deity of Sarutahiko Okami.

Tsubakigishi Shrine is said to be beneficial for entertainment, marriage, and marital harmony, and is visited by many people.

MARUIKE TEA WORKS

Your wish will come true?! Kanae Falls

Kanae Falls is right next to Tsubakigishi Shrine.

Although it is a small waterfall, it is considered a power spot among worshipers, and many worshipers gather around it. It seems to be especially popular with women.

Just listening to the sound of water falling from the waterfall is very soothing and cleanses your soul. In fact, it is said that if you set a photo of Kanae Falls on your mobile phone, your wish will come true.

Reishoan, the tea room donated by the God of Management

Did you know that there is a full-fledged tea room on the grounds of Tsubaki-san?

In fact, Suzumatsu-an was donated by Konosuke Matsushita, the founder of today's Panasonic Group and known as the God of Management. It is said that there was an exchange between the previous chief priest of TsubakiGrandShrine and Konosuke Matsushita.

Relax with Japanese sweets and matcha

In Suzumatsuan's hall, you can take a break while enjoying sweets made by a local Japanese confectionery shop and matcha tea.

There are also ryutei seats (chair seats) next to the hall. The tea is 800 yen including tax and comes with a small plate of sweets. Surprisingly, you can take the small plates home with you.

You can take a small plate home wrapped in the paper that is laid out below it, but I always prepare a small piece of bubble wrap and a plastic bag, then wrap it in that and take it home. If you know you'll be stopping by here, it's a good idea to prepare some kind of container.

By the way, the small plates are made of Mino ware and come in several different colors and shapes. This year, round pink plates are being used. I'm glad to have it as a souvenir.

“Matsushita Konosukesha” is a must-visit place.

As the name suggests, this shrine is dedicated to Konosuke Matsushita.

Konosuke Matsushita was called the ``god of management'' during his lifetime due to his great achievements, and after his death, he has been enshrined as a god at this shrine.

It seems to be very beneficial for prospering business and improving luck at work.

Matsushita Konosuke Shrine is located a little further from Suzumatsu-an on the left, but I think many worshipers walk past it without noticing. Why not also visit the god of management, who had a deep connection with Tsubaki?

2024 is the year of the dragon! Visit the Dragon God too🐉

The zodiac sign of 2024 is the dragon! Every year during New Year's Day, more and more people are visiting shrines and temples named after their zodiac signs.

Tsubaki-san has three shrines dedicated to the Ryujin, so you can tour the three Ryujin shrines. From here, I will introduce Tsubaki's three Ryujin shrines.

Kanoeryu Shrine

Located right next to the Ichi-no-Torii gate, this shrine is the first thing you see when you enter the shrine grounds.

The deities enshrined are "Kinryu Ryujin", "Hakuryu Ryujin", and "Kokuryu Ryujin". It is said that the dragon god resided in the large tree, which is said to be 400 years old, and protected the sacred area.

Ryujajin Ryochi Shrine

The enshrined deity is the Dragon Snake God.

The belief in dragons that live in water is said to protect against fire and water disasters, and the belief in snakes that live on the ground is said to be beneficial for warding off disasters in the land. "Ryochi" means Sarutahiko Okami.

Ryujajin Ryochi Shrine is located right behind Kanae Falls.

Tsubaki Tachikumo Ryu Shrine

The enshrined deity is ``Tategumo Ryujin''.

It is said to be beneficial for raising children, warding off insects, and removing swelling. It is located in the Gyomando Plaza, diagonally across from the archery hall "Tsubaki Jikokan".

2024 is the year of the dragon🐉. It is also a shrine that you would definitely want to visit on your New Year's visit. When you visit Tsubaki-san, be sure to also visit Ryujin Sansha!

For lunch, let's try the famous gourmet "Tsubaki Torimeshi"!

At the restaurant ``Tsubaki'' on the 1st floor of Tsubaki Kaikan along the approach to the shrine, you can enjoy a variety of menus that include torimeshi (torimeshi).

Tsubaki's business hours are 10:00 to 16:00 (last order is 15:30, and the camellia rice will end as soon as it runs out.)

*The menu in the photo is Torimeshi set meal (plum).

It comes with torimeshi, soup, small side dish, and pickles for only 770 yen including tax!

Torimeshi has a mild seasoning, but it has a lot of ingredients and a strong umami flavor, making it very delicious. The rice was cooked just right!

Long ago, the wife of the previous chief priest served torimeshi to worshipers who traveled from far and wide to visit, and it became Tsubaki's signature gourmet dish.

The tea soba set meal is also recommended.

When I visit Tsubaki-san, I always get the Torimeshi set meal, but this time I tried the Cha Soba set meal (1,100 yen including tax), which is one of the popular menu items.

The tea soba noodles were chewy and had a fluffy tea flavor. The soup is also very delicious, and it also comes with torimeshi, so you can see why it's a popular menu item. It's a taste that makes you want to eat it again.

Get “Tsubaki Kusa Mochi” as a souvenir

This is also a camellia specialty that you should definitely try: `` Tsubaki Kusa Mochi.'' Domestic sticky rice and red beans are used. There are two types: strained bean paste and grained bean paste, and a pack of 5 pieces costs 650 yen (tax included).

Tsubaki Kusa Mochi is made by Shunsendo, a Japanese confectionery shop located at the foot of TsubakiGrandShrine.

The rice cake is really soft and smooth to the touch. The moment you put it in your mouth, you will be surprised at how delicious Kusa Mochi is. I end up getting two or three.

The expiration date was 2 days, and it was still soft even the day after I bought it.

``Tsubaki Torimeshi'' and ``Tsubaki Kusamochi'' are sold on the 1st floor of Tsubaki Kaikan, but they are also sold at the training and rest facility `` Koregami Tsubaki Dojo/Sanshuden,'' which is located on the left as you enter the temple grounds. You can also enjoy light meals such as chicken rice and noodles.

The shop also sells camellia konnyaku and kabusetea grown in Suzuka, so you won't have any trouble finding souvenirs.
