Iga City has been declared a ``Ninja City,'' and there are spots related to ninjas scattered throughout the city, and the imposing Iga Ueno Castle towers over IgaCity. From a family-friendly ninja museum to a long-established teahouse, we had fun while touring the facilities eligible for the "View on Smartphone Campaign"!

IgaCity Tourist Information Center
IgaCity is dotted with ninja-related spots throughout the city, and is home to the imposing Iga Ueno Castle.
From a family-friendly ninja museum to a long-established teahouse, we had fun while touring the participating facilities of the `` Answer Lucky! View on Your Smartphone Campaign''!

First, to get some tourist information about Iga, go to IgaCity Tourist Information Center, which is the “Mie Travel Information Center”!
The tourist information center is located on the first floor of Hytopia Iga, a commercial complex in front of Ninja City Station on the Iga Railway Iga Line.
It's a good idea to ask the staff, as they can tell you about sightseeing spots in Iga, as well as events being held and restaurants where you can eat nearby.

There are so many tourist pamphlets!
There were also pamphlets in foreign languages with information on restaurants for the increasing number of foreign tourists in recent years.

When you fill out a simple questionnaire using the QR code printed on the `` Smartphone Mie Toku Campaign'' POP installed at the information counter and show it to the staff, you'll be surprised to learn that this is also a ``Mie Travel Hospitality Facility.'' As a "hospitality service" you will receive a paper shuriken.
Handmade colorful paper shuriken are perfect as memories of your trip.
This is wonderful hospitality typical of Iga!

Iga Ueno Castle
After checking out the sights of Iga at the tourist information center, it's time to set off on your Iga journey!
First of all, let's go to "Iga Ueno Castle", which is a must when you think of sightseeing in Iga!
It's about a 10-minute walk from IgaCity Tourist Information Center mentioned earlier.

Iga Ueno Castle is characterized by its pure white three-story castle, and is also called ``Hakuho Castle'' due to its appearance.
TakatoraTodo, and today, in addition to the original inner moat and stone walls, the castle tower built in 1933 remains.
The castle ruins were designated as a national historic site in 1967, and the castle tower was designated as a cultural property of IgaCity in 1985.

When you look up at the castle, you'll be amazed by its massive and dignified appearance! The stone wall, which is about 30 meters high and is one of the tallest in Japan, is also a highlight, and we recommend taking photos from underneath it.
In spring, the cherry blossoms below are in full bloom, and it is said to be very beautiful♪

Inside the castle tower, there are many historical materials related to the castle and IgaCity on display.
In particular, the armor, such as the unusually shaped “Toukanri Kabuto”, is truly impressive!
Also on display are calligraphy and paintings by the Kawasaki clan who restored the castle tower, Iga-Yaki works, and Todo family furniture.

There was a box with the Todo family crest, "Todo Tsuta," on it.
It's a bright vermilion color and very beautiful.

If you go up the stairs further, you can get a panoramic view of IgaCity from the top floor of the castle tower!
There are windows in all directions, north, south, east, and west, and binoculars are also installed, so it's nice to enjoy different views from each direction.

Furthermore, what you should pay attention to is the ceiling on this floor!
There are 46 pieces of large colored paper, measuring 1 meter square, celebrating the restoration of the castle tower, and the rows of pictures and letters are very artistic.
I couldn't help but admire it.

Leave the castle with a commemorative stamp to commemorate your visit to the palace.

NinjaMUSEUMofIgaryu
Next, speaking of Iga, Iga ninja! NinjaMUSEUMofIgaryu is also recommended for families.
A museum where you can learn about ninjas and ninjutsu, with many exhibits related to ninjas and ninjutsu.

Fill out the campaign survey at the ticket office right away! Here, the admission fee is 100 yen off!
This is a great service that allows you to enter the museum at a discount.

The first thing you should see when you come here is the ``Ninja House.'' It looks like a normal farmhouse, but if you look for it, you'll find lots of hidden tricks!
The ninjas were what we would now call ``spies,'' and it is said that they had various tricks in their mansions to prevent theft of information such as how to prepare gunpowder and ninjutsu, which were cutting-edge technology in Japan at the time.

A ninja ninja (female ninja) will demonstrate and explain interesting tricks such as "Dondengaeshi" where you can hide behind walls, hidden stairs, and trick doors.
You can't help but be transfixed by the sense of speed at which the ninja hides behind the wall and how quickly the sword appears hidden on the floor!
The explanations are easy for children to understand, so the whole family can enjoy it.

Another recommendation is the ninja show.
Using weapons such as shuriken, swords, sickles, and blowguns, ninjas engage in realistic battles while providing explanations.

There are some shocking scenes and some funny scenes along the way! ?
The powerful techniques and dynamism will make you forget to blink! Both adults and children will be very satisfied with the impressive show.

In addition, at the Ninjutsu Experience Center, you can see ninja tools used by ninjas, such as shuriken and water spiders.

At the Ninja Tradition Museum, you can see exhibits about the history and life of ninjas.
It was very interesting to learn about ninja techniques, costumes, food, lifestyle, etc. There were some things that are relevant to our modern lives!

The in-house shop ``Ninjabo'' has ninja goods that can only be found here, so it's a must-see!

Murai Mankoen
After playing, take a relaxing break♪
Murai Mankoen, a long-established teahouse in IgaCity that has been in business for 110 years, is a sweet tea shop that is perfect for a snack while strolling around Iga.

The inside of the store is filled with tea, tea utensils, ninja goods, etc., and you can enjoy just looking at them, or you can take a break and drink tea at the seats with a retro atmosphere.

Chacha, the signboard cat, will also welcome you♪

Order the popular menu "Ninja Parfait" (880 yen, tax included)!

Sunpia Iga's best recommendation is the ``Natural Hot Spring Basho-no-Yu'' where you can soothe your tired body after a lot of playing.

You can enjoy different Japanese and Western style baths for men and women each day, and it is attractive that you can take a different bath the night you stay and the next morning.

This is a restaurant that can be used for a variety of purposes, from breakfast to lunch, coffee, and dinner.
You can enjoy dishes using Iga ingredients, including Iga beef, which is said to be difficult to eat outside of IgaCity due to its limited distribution, as well as Iga rice, Iga sake from a local sake brewery, and other Iga ingredients.

Sunpia Iga's specialty "Iga beef broiled bowl" (1500 yen, tax included) is popular because you can eat such rare Iga beef at a reasonable price!

Rooms include Western-style rooms, Japanese-style rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, and barrier-free rooms.
The room has twin beds and a spacious 6 tatami Japanese-style room, making it spacious and perfect for families.

There are plenty of seasonal leisure activities available, including the tennis courts and the ninja experience unique to Iga, as well as the pool in the summer and skating in the winter.
The skating rink is indoors, so you don't have to worry about the weather, and you can have fun with your family even on rainy days!

The three-story castle tower has weapons and armor, belongings of the Todo family, and 46 ceiling paintings by famous people, including Yokoyama Taikan. It is also called ``Hakuho Castle'' because of its beautiful three-story white exterior. The stone wall of the inner moat, which is approximately 30 meters high and boasts one of the highest heights in Japan, is also a must-see and has been used as a filming location for movies. In addition, local materials from IgaCity are on display. The current three-story castle tower was built by Mr. Katsu Kawasaki in 1935 (Showa 10), but the interior of the wooden building retains the atmosphere of the Sengoku period.
