Kugi Shrine Trees
Kugi Shrine Trees

Kuki Shrine is located on a small cape that protrudes somewhat like a peninsula at the entrance of Kuki Bay, and has a forest containing many old trees as a sacred area.
This is also the place where Kusamaruhachi, a fern belonging to the Hedonaceae family, was first discovered on Honshu, and it is also the northern limit of its distribution in Japan, so it is considered a valuable place in terms of plant distribution geography.
The forest is mainly made up of subtropical and temperate plants, and there are many plants thriving within the forest.
It is an attractive spot with historic shrines and nostalgic townscapes.
It was designated as a national natural monument on April 17, 1937 (S12).

You can view and edit the sightseeing route (My Plan on My Page) that will take you around the selected spots.
