掲載日:2021.09.14

Glamping is a word that combines glamorous (luxury) and camping, and is an experience where you can easily enjoy camping without having to prepare any camping equipment. We will introduce the benefits of glamping, how to enjoy it, and recommended glamping facilities.

What is glamping?

Glamping is a combination of the words glamorous and camping, and is an experience where you can easily enjoy camping without having to set up a tent or prepare barbecue equipment.

Glamping facilities solve the problems faced by beginners of camping, such as those who are interested in camping but find it difficult to set up a tent, don't know what kind of equipment to get, and have to deal with rain and wind.

In recent years, glamping facilities have appeared that allow you to stay in a hotel or resort-like setting, allowing you to enjoy luxurious camping and barbecues without having to bring your own.

In this article, we will introduce the benefits of glamping, how to enjoy it, and recommended glamping facilities. You are sure to find the perfect glamping experience for you!

Benefits of glamping

Enjoy camping without bringing anything

The biggest advantage of glamping is that you can enjoy barbecuing and sleeping in a tent without having to bring anything. Some facilities come with all the equipment you need for camping, and you don't need to clean up afterward.

Glamping is recommended for those who are interested in camping and those who want a different way of enjoying themselves than staying in a hotel.

play with nature experience

The glamping facility is located in a location blessed with great nature. If you are in the mountains, you can enjoy forest bathing, if you are near a river, you can enjoy fishing and playing in the river, and if you are near the ocean, you can enjoy marine activities such as swimming in the sea and sea kayaking.

You can enjoy glamping even more by checking out what kind of nature experiences are available at each glamping facility.

In most cases, the tools needed for nature experiences can be rented for a fee, and in some cases the nature experience fee is included in the accommodation plan.

Enjoy lodging with your pet

The number of glamping facilities that are equipped with private dog runs and dog cages is increasing, making it possible to enjoy glamping with your dog in comfort. There are also cabins and cottages that allow dogs.

If you want to take your dog on an overnight trip, we recommend staying at a glamping facility.

Glamping prices

The average price for a one-night, two-day stay is around 15,000 to 20,000 yen per adult for a room without meals, and around 20,000 to 30,000 yen for dinner and breakfast, which is slightly more expensive than a hotel or inn. Masu.

The appeal of glamping is that you don't need to prepare camping supplies, and there are plans that include experiences and activities, so you can enjoy it in a different way than staying at a hotel.

If there are a lot of people staying, some facilities will cost around 10,000 yen per person, including dinner and breakfast. There are also places where accommodation rates are even cheaper on weekdays.

Types of glamping facilities

Glamping facilities across the country can be classified into four categories: cabins, cottages (villas), tents, and trailers. We will introduce each feature in detail.

cabin

A type of wooden hut where you can enjoy camping is called a cabin. Most cabins are simple cabins with one room, ranging in size from 6 to 10 tatami mats. Since it is made of wood, it is resistant to rain and wind, and is recommended for those who are a little worried about using a tent. Although the facilities are inferior to cottages, you can reduce costs accordingly.

Most facilities are equipped with a power supply and mattress (bed), and the bath and toilet are shared spaces.

Some cottage-like cabins are equipped with a bath, toilet, bed, and BBQ facilities, and some also have a private dog run in the garden.

The cabin is recommended for the following people:

◯ I'm worried about staying in a tent.
◯ I want to save money compared to cottages and villas.

Cottage (villa)

A type of detached house that is rented out is called a cottage or villa. Many types have multiple rooms and are equipped with all the necessary amenities such as kitchens, baths, toilets, beds, sofas, etc., so you can enjoy glamping with peace of mind even with children.

There are many facilities where you can enjoy your meal (BBQ) in the attached garden or balcony, and the appeal of cottages and villas is that you can enjoy glamping without worrying about the weather.

Some of the cabins mentioned above are not equipped with baths and toilets, so if you want to have your own private bathroom, we recommend cottages and villas.

Cottage/villas are recommended for the following people:

◯ I would like to stay with facilities similar to a hotel.
◯ I want to have fun without worrying about the weather

tent

Large tents that can accommodate 2 to 6 people have become mainstream at glamping facilities across the country.

Although it is a tent, it is equipped with air conditioning, heating, a bed, and power supply, making it feel as comfortable as a hotel room. Some tents have partially transparent walls so you can see the outside scenery and the starry sky.

Most facilities have shared baths and toilets, but there are also facilities with private showers available for private use.

It is more resistant to rain and wind than regular tents, so it is recommended for those who want to enjoy a casual, safe, and luxurious stay in a tent.

Tent is recommended for the following people

◯ I want to enjoy authentic camping without bringing anything.
◯ I want to stay in a different way than a hotel.

trailer

The type of camper you stay in is called a trailer. Some trailers have luxurious and stylish interiors just like hotels, and some are fully equipped with a bath, toilet, shower, bed, refrigerator, and kitchen.

In terms of facilities, they are often the same as the cottages and villas mentioned above, so if you are not particular about the size of the room, we recommend glamping in a trailer. Also, accommodation costs may be cheaper than in cottages and villas!

Trailers are recommended for the following people:

◯ I would like to stay in a camper
◯ I want to save money compared to cottages and villas.
