What is GozaShirahamaBeach?

GozaShirahamaBeach is a beach located in Goza, Shima-cho, ShimaCity, and is a beach with amazing transparency.

The sea is so beautiful that it has been certified as one of the ``100 best bathing beaches'' by the Ministry of the Environment, and is crowded with many bathers in the summer.

This is a shallow Shirahama beach with calm waves, making it a popular beach for families with small children.

In this article, we will provide information on the parking lot of GozaShirahamaBeach and tourist information in the surrounding area.

Parking lot and fees

There are many parking lots around the beach at GozaShirahamaBeach, with a total of about 470 parking spaces available.

The parking lot, which is a 1-2 minute walk from the sea, fills up quickly, so if you want to be able to park, we recommend arriving early.

Parking fees range from 600 yen to 1,500 yen (per day/per car), and in some places the fee for changing rooms and hot showers is included.

For your reference, we will introduce six campgrounds with parking lots near the sea.

① Mihama Campsite 20 spaces, 600 yen/day (hot shower 500 yen per person)
② Marine Blue 15 units, 1500 yen/day (200 yen per hot shower)
③ Shirahama Pearl Campsite: 35 spaces, 1,500 yen/day (hot showers are free for parking lot users)
④ Goza Shirahama Campsite 60 spaces, 1,500 yen/day (hot showers are free for parking lot users)
⑤ Kamome Campsite: 35 spaces, 1,500 yen/day (300 yen per hot shower)
⑥ Yamashita Parking Lot: 100 spaces, 1,500 yen/day (hot showers are free for parking lot users)

*The above amount is the amount listed on the website as of the end of May 2022.

If you are traveling with a large number of people in a car, it is a good idea to choose a parking lot that includes the shower fee, but if you are traveling with a small number of people or do not need a shower, you may want to choose a place where the shower is charged separately.

By the way, some of the above campgrounds are equipped with auto camping sites and cottages, so if you are from a long distance, we recommend spending 1 night or 2 days enjoying the beach.

Please see the Goza Shirahama Tourism Association website for camping fees for each facility.

About the beach house

There are many beach huts in front of the beach where you can have a snack or take a rest.

Some of them have beach huts attached to campgrounds, and there are also places where you can take a break even if you are not using the campground.

Floating rings, beach balls, umbrellas, etc. can be rented at the beach hut.

If you rent something, you can reduce the amount of luggage you carry on your trip, and if you forget it at home, you don't have to worry about it.

At the shop, you can enjoy light meals such as yakisoba and curry, as well as a wide variety of Hamayaki menu items such as grilled squid and turban shell grilled in a pot.

When I pass in front of the shop, the smell of grilled squid draws me in and I end up buying it lol.

The campsite I often use is Shirahama Pearl Campground, which is in a great location right in front of the ocean.

I like that the parking lot, changing rooms, restrooms, and beach hut are all next to each other, making it easy to get around.

The second floor of the campsite is a spectacular spot with a panoramic view of the ocean! Surprisingly, very few people know about this place.

``If you have a good camera, why don't you take pictures on the second floor?'' A staff member said to me, and I learned about this place for the first time lol.

From here, you can see GozaShirahamaBeach from end to end, and you will be impressed by the sparkling emerald green sea. Feels like being in Okinawa ♫

This area is free for anyone to enter, so please give it a try.

When will the sea open in 2022?

The opening period for the sea is announced around mid-June every year, but the publication date of the article (end of May) has not yet been determined.

In normal years, the sea opening period is from July 1st to August 31st, so if it is the same period in 2022, it will be from July 1st (Friday) to August 31st (Wednesday).

In 2021, the stay time for rescuers and lifeguards was from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We will update this article as soon as the sea opening period is announced, so please come back and check back ♫

Recommended shooting methods and times

From here, we will introduce how and when to take more beautiful photos of GozaShirahamaBeach.

Take a photo in the morning

If you want to take photos of the sea in a more transparent state, we recommend visiting in the morning. In the afternoon, depending on the strength of the sunlight and the position of the sun, the sea may appear whitish and its transparency may decrease.

*The above photo was taken at 11 o'clock.

Take photos at low tide

The lower the tide, the shallower the sea, and the clearer it appears.

If you want to see the emerald green color, the best time is in the morning when the tide is low.

*The above photo was taken at 11:30.

The above photo was taken at high tide. The waves got a little higher and the depth of the sea increased, so we moved away from the emerald green color.

Take pictures from the top of the embankment

If you want to take a picture of the ocean that looks like it's in a tropical country, we recommend taking the picture from a slightly further distance rather than from the beach.

I often take photos from the embankment near Shirahama Pearl Campsite.

*The photo above is the embankment.

If you look out over the sea from the embankment, you can take photos of the blue, sparkling ocean that stretches all the way to the horizon. If you include thunderclouds in your photo, it will give your photo an even more summery feel.

sunset

During the summer season at GozaShirahamaBeach, the sun appears to be setting into the sea, making it a beautiful sunset beach.

The sunset time from July to August is from 18:00 to 19:00, so if you are living far away, you can enjoy the sunset at your leisure by scheduling a 2-day, 1-night schedule.

Uyuni Throne

If you place your camera on the ground on a sandy beach by the waves, you may be able to take photos that remind you of the Salar de Uyuni!

Name it Uyuni Goza! LOL By the way, the above photo was used as a tourist poster for Kintetsu ♫

The photo opportunity is the moment the waves recede! At that time, the pattern of the sky above may be reflected on the sandy beach, so don't miss that moment and take the shutter.

Please note that if you take too long to take pictures, there is a risk that the returning waves will come into contact with your camera and make you soaked. I have experienced it many times (sweat)

Nearby campgrounds and tourist spots

From here, we will introduce campgrounds and sightseeing spots around GozaShirahamaBeach.

Laguna Ise Shima

Laguna Ise Shima is a campsite located right next to GozaShirahamaBeach.

There are many plans that allow you to enjoy authentic camping without bringing anything, so you can enjoy the current trend of glamping♫

From December 2021, a new dome-shaped tent that can accommodate 1 to 10 people will be installed, and is equipped with facilities and amenities that will allow you to stay comfortably all year round, including air conditioning, heating and cooling, a refrigerator, a water dispenser, and towels. .

Wi-Fi is available for free, so it's a perfect environment for those who want to enjoy a workday by the sea ♫

For dinner, there is also a plan where you can enjoy BBQ using ingredients from Ise-Shima, and the lineup is varied, including spiny lobster, turban shells, and shellfish harvested by local divers, as well as delicious meats!

Other dinner plans and tent types are explained in detail in the article below.

Azurihama

Azurihama is a beach located about 5 minutes by car from GozaShirahamaBeach.

Like GozaShirahamaBeach, the beach is shallow and has calm waves, so you can safely enjoy swimming with your children.

There is a stylish cafe "Cloud 1 Dining Enishi" along the coast, and the starry sky is beautiful at night, so there are many ways to enjoy it ♫

Even when ChamugozaGozaShirahamaBeach is full of people, Azurihama Beach is relatively empty, making it a little-known beach. The photo at the beginning is the scene when I went on July 23, 2021 (a public holiday).

For more information about Azurihama, please see the article below.

Daiozaki Lighthouse

Daiosaki Lighthouse is a chalk lighthouse located in Daio-cho, ShimaCity, about 25 minutes by car from GozaShirahamaBeach.

This lighthouse has been certified as one of Japan's top 50 lighthouses, and you can even go inside and take a tour.

*The above photo was taken from Yahata-san Park near the lighthouse.

Not only can you tour the inside of the lighthouse, but you can also climb to the top, and the observation area is a spot with a spectacular ocean view!

Looking out over the town from the observation area, you can see the unique atmosphere of a fishing town.

If you pay a donation of 300 yen at the counter at the lighthouse, you can tour the inside of the lighthouse. Visiting hours are from 9:00 to 16:00.

Among the lighthouses in Japan, there are only 16 that can be climbed, and one of them is Daiozaki Lighthouse.

Tomoyama Park

Tomoyama Park is a park in ShimaCity that overlooks Ago Bay on the Rias Coast, and is approximately 25 minutes by car from GozaShirahamaBeach.

This location is surrounded by Ago Bay on three sides, so you can see Ago Bay up close from the Kirigaki Observation Deck on the premises.

Kirigaki Observatory is a place where you can see the sunset all year round, so after enjoying sightseeing at GozaShirahamaBeach and its surrounding spots, we recommend taking a course to watch the sunset here before heading home.

The parking lot is right near the observation deck, so if it's chilly, you can enjoy the view from inside your car ♫

What did you think

We have provided plenty of information about the charms of GozaShirahamaBeach and surrounding spots.

I think the sea here is one of the most beautiful places in Mie, so if you want to swim in the beautiful sea, GozaShirahamaBeach is recommended.

We have a great selection of beach huts and campgrounds, so please come visit GozaShirahamaBeach this summer.

I once stayed in a bungalow at Fugamaru Shirahama Pearl Campsite, and it was a great time to watch the sunset while eating Hamayaki at the attached restaurant.

Atnight, we recommend watching the starry sky at the nearest Azuri Beach ♫
