This is Cairo from the Mie Travel Gourmet Club.

We publish a gourmet blog called ``Cairo's Eating Diary'' mainly in Mie Prefecture.

We have carefully selected and introduced shops that we have visited through our blog activities that we would like you to know about and visit.

This time we will introduce Marche, which has a cafe.

The origins of Owase Marche

Many government events were aimed at senior citizens.

Therefore, in 2017, the youth division of the Owase Chamber of Commerce and Industry took the lead in starting Owase Marche, an event specifically for young people.

The purpose was to create a place where young people could gather and where local artists could flourish.

The event was held at the Mie Prefectural Kumano Kodo Center, once a year, three times in total.

The number of visitors has increased year by year, and by the third time there were 8,000 visitors in a city with a population of 16,000.

Later, when the Owase-Sanda Thermal Power Plant was to be withdrawn, we were consulted about the possibility of effectively utilizing Chubu Electric Power's disaster prevention materials warehouse.

The current owner of Marche, Yuji Ogura, who agreed to this interview, has been the executive committee chairman since the first edition.

Mr. Ogura believed that the special energy of the marche could be a key to regional revitalization, so he decided to switch from holding the marche once a year to a permanent marche venue in a warehouse.

The warehouse renovation project was completed by a group of friends who had finished their work and spent five months doing the renovation using DIY techniques.

Permanent Owase Marche

Marche's grounds are approximately 1,000 tsubo, so you can hold large events outside.

The warehouse is approximately 300 tsubo in floor space, two-thirds of which is used for the marche venue.

The Marche has over 40 shops run by artists mainly from HigashiKishu area.

One-of-a-kind accessories, miscellaneous goods, small items, woodwork, seasonings, paintings, pet treats, etc. are on sale.

There is also a cafe with homemade food, antique goods, and used clothing.

Let's take a look at some of the artist's works.

The brand name means"dream and moon"in French.

In addition to cute handmade earrings and earrings, we also carry mask chains and hair accessories. You'll want to pick it up.

The picture on the right is a blend of several types of rice that has a light texture and becomes sweeter as you chew, making it a rice that goes well with fish.

The one on the left in the photo is "Brown Rice Decaf," which is roasted from Mie Prefecture's branded rice "Musubi no Kami."

In addition to this, a pottery market was being held at the time of the interview.

We also have outlet products, and bargain products are first come, first served.

Events and new product information are introduced on Owase Marche's official Instagram.I will put a link at the end of the page, so please follow me♪

antique corner

Marche also sells antique items.

Mr. Ogura is licensed as a second-hand goods dealer and certified as an estate organizer, and sells miscellaneous goods that he has purchased on his own as well as items that he has purchased directly from customers during his lifetime.

You may find an unexpected bargain.

This is just a part of it, but let's take a look.

Miscellaneous goods that give you a retro and emo feel.

These are nostalgic abacuses, bento boxes, picture frames, grand pianos, children's chairs, etc.

stylish old clothes

There were also many classic cameras that were purchased from camera collectors before their death.

When it comes to antiques, he wants to sell them with an image of ``nostalgic'' and ``a museum you can buy.''

It is a space where you can find various ways to enjoy it depending on the age of the viewer.

Cafe overview/menu

The cafe space is located at the back of the venue.

There are about 40 seats at tables and counters.

The seats are separated by vinyl curtains and are heated and air-conditioned. There are various types of desk chairs. You can choose depending on your mood that day.

There is a kids space next to the cafe, so kids can have fun too.

There is also terrace seating outside, so you can enjoy your meal while viewing the cherry blossoms during the cherry blossom season.

When events are held, we will increase the number of table seats.

From here, we will introduce the cafe menu.

When using the cafe, order and pay at the register first.

Owase doesn't have a Starbucks or Thirteen One, so we create menus that will please local young people.

I try not to use ready-made food as much as possible.

The restaurant's favorite is the ``Butter Chicken Curry,'' which is made with the chef's special care.

He said he has fond memories of the curry he served to cheer up his friends during DIY construction work before opening.

Other items include pasta, omelet rice, hamburgers, kids' menus, and desserts.

The ice cream is also homemade, which is a big plus.

A full a la carte menu is also available. I keep asking for it.

Click here for "Today's Pasta & Rice". I'll pick up a few more and post them later!

The dishes we received this time

I would like to introduce the dishes I received this time.

Butter Chicken Curry

It's a nice scent, or should I say it's an absolutely delicious scent.

Plenty of 7types of spices and cashew nuts are used.

It also contains garlic and ginger, but since it is slowly simmered, there is no odor.

It's really delicious when you try it.

It has a creamy, mild, and sweet taste.

The spices are complex and the right amount of spiciness comes after you.

Spicy chicken is also a good accent.

For the set mini salad, you can choose between green salad or potato salad.

The potato salad is as delicious as the restaurant recommends.

Dream love curry

A combination of butter chicken curry and limited time beef tendon curry.

The beef tendon curry is made with 12 kinds of spices and Wagyu beef tendon, which are simmered until tender.

It's twice delicious curry at once.

By the way, I chose the green salad for the mini salad in the set. A mini bowl is filled with various ingredients such as cabbage, corn, and edamame.

hamburger plate

You can choose the sauce from "Demi Sauce" or "Tomato & Cheese Sauce".

The hamburger steak is served in a skillet, so it's piping hot.

Thick, soft, and extremely juicy hamburger steak.

Strawberry short cake

This is a limited time item.

You can have it made after you order.

The fluffy sponge is topped with strawberries from Strawberry&tree in KihokuTown and fresh cream with condensed milk.

A different form of shortcake than usual.

caramel honey nut ice cream

Homemade ice cream and fresh cream topped with roasted cashew nuts and pickled honey nuts and topped with caramel sauce.

matcha shortcake

This is also a limited time item, andis a limited time Japanese sweet made with high quality matcha from Mie Prefecture.

Craft Ginger Lemonade (right) is a limited time item and contains plenty of lemon for a sour taste.

The food and sweets are all homemade and delicious.

Things to do near Owase Marche

We will introduce some recommended sightseeing spots, so please be sure to stop by when you come to Owase Marche.

15 minutes by car from Owase Marche, you will see Kuki Bay after passing through the Shin Yakiyama Tunnel, which has a total length of about 4 km.

Kuki Bay was one of the bases of the Kumano Navy, which was active at the end of the Heian period, and is the birthplace of the later Kuki Navy.

The Kuki Suigun was famous as Oda Nobunaga's navy.

In the depths of Kuki Bay is Kuki Shrine, which is dedicated to the god of learning, Michizane Sugawara.

The grove of trees within the precincts has been designated as a natural monument.

The torii gate that can be seen from the stone stairs leading down to the sea is divine.
