Reijo ``Iwayado'' makes a moon visit to the sacred place ``Iwayado''

Date: 18th of every month

A statue of St. Kannon and 33 stone statues of Kannon protected by gigantic stones that suddenly appear in the mountains.

The sacred site ``Iwayado'', which is also introduced in ``The Saigoku 33 Famous Places Zue'', enshrines a statue of St. Kannon and 33 Kannon stone Buddhas, protected by a gigantic rock that suddenly appears in the mountains. In the past, strict Shugendo practices based on mountain worship were popular.
On the 18th of every month, a sutra reading is held at 10:30 a.m. by the deputy chief priest of Joseiji Temple. (In January and February, sutra reading begins at 2:30 p.m.)
