Iga kumihimo display and kumihimo experience where you can make keychains and bracelets
IgaKumihimoBraids account for the majority of high-quality hand-braided cords produced nationwide, and were designated as a traditional craft by the Minister of International Trade and Industry in 1976. This is a facility that has exhibitions and experiences of IgaKumihimoBraids, as well as a demonstration and sale of hand-made braids.
In the kumihimo experience, you can make a key chain or bracelet with Kongo-gumi using an 8-bead round stand. Apparently, the key to making it well is to ``relax your shoulders, have fun, and have a good rhythm,'' and even children who are normally lazy can surprisingly become absorbed in it.
On the second floor, there is a resource room where you can display valuable materials and learn about the history and tradition of Iga braiding, and a Kumihimo dojo for groups. On the 1st floor, there is a space where individuals can try out braided cords, as well as an exhibition and sales area where a variety of colorful goods made with braided cords are sold.
