A place related to Basho, where the Shigure memorial service is held.

The predecessor of Manju-ji Temple was called Chofuku-ji Temple, which was the prayer temple of the Fukuchi clan. Chofuku-ji Temple was renamed Manju-ji Temple in the 10th year of the Horeki era (1760), and remains the name to this day. Manjuji Temple was destroyed by fire in 1932, and a new memorial service was held in 1934. The principal image, Enmei Jizo Bodhisattva (a wooden seated statue of Jizo Bodhisattva), has been designated as a national important cultural property.
Additionally, the wooden Fudo Myoo statue has been designated as a prefectural cultural property. There is Tosei-den, which honors Basho, and a wooden statue of Basho is enshrined there. Every year on November 12th, ``Shigureki'' is held to remember the haiku master Basho.
