Saiseiji Saiseiji
A temple of the Tendai Shinsei sect located about 10 minutes on foot from JR Iga-Ueno Station.
The wooden seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai has been designated as an important cultural property of the country, and although it is thought to have been created no earlier than the mid-10th century, it captures the graceful curves representing the eyebrows and eyes, the soft flesh, and the thin texture. The expression of the clothing is similar to the Japanese style of the late Heian period, and is extremely sophisticated even among similar examples.
