Saiku Heian no Mori is a historical park built on the site of saikuu. Inside the park, three buildings confirmed during excavations have been faithfully restored: Seiden, Nishiwakiden, and Higashiwakiden. This photo is of Nishiwaki-dono. There are exhibits such as panels, and there is also a seating area.
In addition, "saikuu VR (virtual reality) tablets" that allow you to experience what it was like back then are available for loan for free, so try it out right away!

In front is the Seiden. By moving the tablet, you can get a glimpse of what kind of events and rituals were held at that time through images. The large screen allows the whole family to enjoy the same experience!

“Who is this old man??” “He used to do things like this here.”
Many people who were not actually there are shown, so the children are very interested! You can have a fun time with your family as you travel back in time to the Heian period.

When you leave Saiku Heian-no-Mori, you will see a grassy field. When I was playing with my family, I passed by the "Shimakaze" heading towards Ise! There are railroad tracks right next to the plaza, so you can see a variety of local trains.

After experiencing the history and having a little fun in the square, it was time for lunch. This is ``Tori Misoya'' located in ``Karamura Village'', Matsuyuki Agriculture Town Station in MeiwaTown. Here, you can enjoy grilled chicken grilled meat! Let's go right away!

The "Family Set (Miso Sauce)" (2,580 yen including tax) is recommended for families. A value set that includes an assortment of young chicken, breast, short ribs, and seseri with miso sauce, cabbage, and two soft drinks. In the back is the famous "Tori Miso Vegetable Hot Pot" (890 yen including tax). (Salad is not included in the set.)

Enjoyed by a family of 4! The chicken is 100% domestically produced, and the secret miso sauce goes well with it for a nostalgic taste. The deep flavor made with time and effort goes well with a healthy hotpot full of Chinese cabbage! Even children can enjoy it.
By the way, the rice (medium) (200 yen including tax) is made with Koshihikari rice produced by Matsuyuki Nosan and cooked in the store's pot. The deliciousness of the rice is sure to whet your appetite!

After eating your fill at Torimiso-ya, head to the footbath "Wakagagi-no-Yu" next to the parking lot. It is also recommended for a short break before lunch. Warm up your tired feet and you'll feel energized again in the afternoon!

From now on, in addition to Torimiso-ya, the village will also have ``Shiawase-ya'' where you can enjoy sweets. Take a look inside! This is a lineup of fluffy chiffon cakes that are popular among repeat customers, as well as cream puffs and pudding. Of course you can buy souvenirs, but there is also an eat-in space where you can eat inside.

This is "Shiawase Choux" (163 yen including tax). This is a popular item that is well known locally.
A standard recommended product that boasts a rich custard cream. The light choux pastry has a slightly nostalgic taste that spreads in your mouth.

Dad had the "Happy Puff" and Mom had the "Chiffon Cake Plain" (245 yen including tax). The children chose "Custard Pudding" (214 yen including tax).
``I'm full, but I don't want sweets!'' While the family takes a breather, dad also enjoys one!
*All prices shown are eat-in prices.

Once your stomach is full, it's time to visit the historic sites again. This is "ItsukinomiyaHallforHistorical". You can experience games enjoyed by aristocrats during the Heian period for free. Before entering the facility, let's first go to the "saikuu Ruins Historical Romance Plaza" located outdoors!

This is a 1/10th scale model of saikuu of the Heian period. You can learn about the state of the government district at the time, centering on the palace.
saikuu ruins are a vast site of approximately 137 hectares (2 km east-west, 0.7 km north-south)! It's about the size of 30 Tokyo Domes!

I was surprised by the elaborate construction! Let's take a look inside the building and feel like Gulliver. During the Heian period, saikuu had a streetscape like this, and the people of the dynasty, including Saio, lived there.

After looking at the 1/10 scale model, head inside ItsukinomiyaHallforHistorical. You can actually experience life in the Heian period, when saikuu was flourishing, through various programs.

This is "Bansugoroku". At the time, it was enjoyed by a wide range of people, from aristocrats to commoners, and was so popular that an order was issued to ban it. Try this game from the Heian period, which also appears in Sei Shonagon's ``Millow Book'' and Murasaki Shikibu's ``The Tale of Genji''!

This is a game called ``Kaiooi'', which is similar to playing cards, where you use the characteristics of bivalves to find matching shellfish. Is this surprisingly difficult? ?

This is the "Let's try on a kochiki" section. You can easily try on costumes from the Heian period for free! Children's sizes are also available, so why not try it on and take a commemorative photo?

Click here if you would like to try on authentic Heian costumes rather than a small robe! The experience is held twice a day, with a maximum of 2 people per group (4 people on family try-on day on the 3rd Sunday of the month).
Comes with 3 photos and allows you to wear Juni-hitoe, Naogi, Hosonaga, Kazami, and Suikan costumes (charges apply)! Advance reservations are required, so please contact us if you would like to make a reservation.
