What is Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine and Sarume-JinjaShrine, the shrines where the strongest blessings reside that are essential for visiting Ise?

It would be a waste to only go to IseJingu when visiting Ise! Sarutahiko Shrine, located in Ise IseCity Prefecture, is known as the god of guidance who guides things to the good. In the same precincts, there is also Sarume Shrine, which is dedicated to the god of entertainment. This time, we have compiled information about Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine and Sarume-JinjaShrine that you should know before visiting! We will introduce in detail what kind of gods there are, power spots inside the shrine, and how to access them!

What is Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine?

When you think of visiting Ise, many people think of IseJingu, but we also recommend visiting Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine!

Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine is located at the intersection leading to Naiku and Oharaimachi (Okage-yokocho).

What is the enshrined deity, Sarutahiko Okami?

Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine, is a god that also appears in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki.

It is said that she guided Ninigi no Mikoto, the grandson of Amaterasu Omikami, to the earthly world. God of ``Michihiraki'' who acts as a guide at the beginning of things and guides everything in a good direction. It is known as.

It is also the god of traffic safety, and many locals pray here when they buy a new car. A steady stream of worshipers come from all over the country to pray for the blessings of the god of ``Michihiraki.''

What is the enshrined deity Ota no Mikoto?

There is a deep connection between Ota Mikoto and IseJingu!

Ota-no-Mikoto is the ancestor of the Ujito nobility, who have served as chief priests of Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine for generations from ancient times to the present, and is a descendant of Sarutahiko Okami.

A long time ago, when Yamatohime no Mikoto traveled through various countries in search of a place to worship Amaterasu Omikami, Ota Mikoto recommended this place upstream of the Isuzu River in Ise. IseJingu was built because they loved this place so much.

Ota-no-Mikoto and IseJingu have such a deep relationship.

The blessings of the God of Michihiraki

So, what kind of wishes will actually come true?

The main prayers at Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine are as follows.

●Michihiraki ●Traffic safety ●Prosperity in business ●Wife safety ●Architectural safety ●Direction and direction to prevent disasters ●Warding off evil spirits ●Prayers for success in passing the exam ●First shrine visit (100-day pilgrimage)●Shichi-Go-San ●Prayers for safe delivery ●Thank God for blessings ●Fulfillment of one's wishes (first fruits of prayer) (starting from 5,000 yen)

Please check the official website for schedules, as there may be times when you may not be able to receive prayers immediately, such as when a wedding is being held.

What is Sarume-JinjaShrine?

Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine is also located within the precincts of Sarutahiko Shrine, facing the main shrine. Amenouzumenomikoto-no-mikoto, enshrined at Sarume-JinjaShrine, is known as a god that brings good fortune in the entertainment industry and marriage, and is visited by many celebrities.

What is the enshrined deity Amenouzumenomikoto no Mikoto?

When Amenouzumenomikoto shut herself up in a cave called Ama Amanoiwato and the whole world was shrouded in darkness, Tenu Ukeme no Mikoto entertained the eight million gods with her specialty dance. It is said that Amaterasu Omikami became curious about the fun outside and decided to come out of the cave (Amanoiwato).

Since Amenouzumenomikoto Mikoto was skilled in ``Mai'', or ``Entertainment'', he is revered as the ancestor of the performing arts.

Many celebrities and athletes continue to visit the shrine, as it is said to bring blessings for the advancement of performing arts and skills.

It is also said that it was Amenouzumenomikoto Uchime no Mikoto who brought the previously mentioned Sarutahiko no Okami and Kei Kei no Mikoto together, and after sending Kei Kei no Okami off to Takachiho with Sarutahiko Okami, the two moved to the Isuzu River. They returned to this area, which is upstream from the river, and became husband and wife. For this reason, it is also said to be the god of matchmaking. The reason why Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine is located within the precincts of Sarume-JinjaShrine is related to the fact that the two gods are husband and wife.

By the way, the person who gave her the surname ``Sarume'' was Qiongki no Takashi.

The locals affectionately call him ``Sarume-san,'' and he is a very, very grateful deity.

Blessings from the god of entertainment, matchmaking, and repose of souls

●Improvement in entertainment/techniques ●Improvement in sports ●Marriage (not just love, but various good relationships between people, work, etc.)●Requiem

[By the way, why is Sarume-JinjaShrine said to be the god of repose of souls?]

To begin with, Japanese dance is a dance for ``soothing the soul.''

In Japan, it is called ``tamafuri,'' which is used to revitalize the soul and revitalize it, unlike the Western ``chinkon,'' which calms the souls of the dead. I will do it. Amenouzumenomikoto is said to be the ``father of repose of souls'' that calms people's proud ``hearts'' and guides them in a pure and gentle way, awakening souls that have lost their vitality and giving them youthful vitality. That's what I'm doing.

Celebrities and athletes also come to worship!

There are many banners of famous people that everyone knows! It's fun to look at each one one by one.

The many votive tablets next to the shrine have various wishes written on them, such as improvement in art-related lessons and improvement in sports skills. I also wrote my wish on the votive tablet at Sarume-JinjaShrine! (Here, you can display it as is, or you can add a sticker to protect your privacy.)

The votive tablets at Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine are octagonal.

There are many types of amulets!

There are various awards such as yen).

You can get goshuin stamps for 300 yen each at Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine and Sarume-JinjaShrine, and omikuji for 100 yen.

What is the power spot at Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine?

Direction stone (Kodenchi)

Did you know that in the middle of Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine grounds there is an octagonal stone pillar with directions and zodiac signs carved into it?

This is where the temple was before the main shrine was moved to its current location. It is a special place where the shrine was located for a long time until it was constructed in 1933.

Many people touch it every day to wish for good luck.

I asked the Shinto priest at Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine about the order in which you should touch them, but it seems that there is no particular rule.

This is said to be a sacred place where the shrine was originally located, so it is said to be placed here as a sign to prevent people from accidentally stepping on it.

There are various theories, such as it is said to be good if you touch your zodiac sign or a direction related to your zodiac sign, or that your luck will improve if you touch it in a certain order, so if you are interested, please do some research.

ripple stone

There is a ripple stone next to Sarume-JinjaShrine. Speaking of Sazareishi, it is a famous stone that appears in the lyrics of the national anthem ``Kimigayo'' and is considered to be a very auspicious stone.

Ripple stones are actually made up of many pebbles that have hardened together, and have formed into rocks over the years. It's just like Kimigayo's lyrics.

As the pebbles grow into fine rocks, you can feel the power of the stones themselves. I hope it will benefit your future growth.

Takara stone

Go through the torii gate in the grounds of Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine you will find Takara Stone on the right. It is so called because the shape of the stone looks like a ``treasure ship'' and is said to be very auspicious.

Also, this Takara stone is whitish overall, so it looks like a white snake is sitting on it. Since ancient times, white snakes have been believed to bring good luck with money, and it is said to be a very auspicious sight, with ``a white snake riding a treasure ship.''

It seems like everyone is taking pictures and putting it on their mobile phones.

Kotakara Pond

Behind Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine Temizusha, there is a ``Kotakara Pond'' where carp swim. This pond is enshrined as the Musubi no Kami of the Ujito nobility, the chief priests of Sarutahiko Shrine, which Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine continued from the time of myth to the present day. It's really impressive to know that a house has been around since mythological times.

If you are praying for a child, please visit here as well. We were also able to feed the carp.

Omita

Behind the main shrine of Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine, there is a rice field where rice grows.

On May 5th every year, the Ota Festival is held here, where young seedlings are planted to pray for a bumper harvest. (Designated as an intangible cultural property of Mie Prefecture)

In August, Okanda was surrounded by a quiet and sacred atmosphere.

find the octagon

At Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine, you can find many octagonal objects.

There are many octagons, such as the pillars of the torii gate, the pillars of the chozuya, the bonito wood, pillars, and railings on the roof of the main hall, the votive tablets of Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine, and the compass stones.

The octagonal shape means ``direction'' and is a symbol of the divine virtue of excluding all directions. I'm very grateful for this, so please look for it.

Sarume Shrine annual festival is held on August 17th and 18th.

On August 17th, the evening festival will be held from 5:30 p.m.

At the evening festival, lanterns donated from all over the country are lit one by one, creating a very magical atmosphere. I feel summer when I see the many lanterns decorated at Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine this time of year.

It looks like it will be a lively night with gorgeous performances and stalls lined up this year as well.

In 2023, there will be performances by singer Etsuco from Mie Prefecture, illusionist GAKU, and a Beyblade competition.

The festival will be held on the 18th from 11am.

Since I already have an entertainment amulet, I received the ``Calming God Bell Ryodama'', which is only available for this time of year. The sound of the bell sounds very pure and cool, and it seems that it will lead you to a calm place. In addition to this pink color, there was also green color.

In that case, take the Ise Futami-Toba Line to Ise IC → towards Naiku for about 7 minutes.

lastly

For me, who was born and raised in IseCity, I had the image of Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine as a ``shrine that you visit at turning points in your life,'' such as shrine visits, Shichi-Go-San festivals, and weddings. However, in writing this article, I learned something new, and I realized that there is a shrine nearby that I am very thankful for, and that it has been protected. Since I started working in the entertainment industry, I have always been helped by the existence of Sarume-JinjaShrine.

There are many people who want to have a divine wedding ceremony in Ise, but since it is not possible to have the ceremony at IseJingu, many people choose to have it at Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine! Isn't it wonderful that the path the two of them will take from now on will be guided by Sarutahiko Okami?

I think there is nothing better than visiting Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine when starting something or when you are unsure of which path to take.

When you come to Ise, please visit Sarutahiko-JinjaShrine.

We hope that everyone who visits our shrine will be guided in a better direction in their future lives!
