A traditional pottery in Marubashira, the village of Iga-Yaki!

The Ayama area is home to an old kiln in the Marubashira district. At Hase-en, a long-established Iga-Yaki kiln established in 1832 (Tempo 3), visitors can see the old climbing kiln with 16 rows of cells, the largest existing in Japan, and the former office of Taisho architecture, as well as enjoy the charm of Iga-Yaki in the museum and exhibition rooms. Every year on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of May, the "Kiln-Opening Market" is held, attracting a total of 30,000 visitors over the three days.

Traditional techniques have definitely been passed down to young potters, and you can not only watch them work, but also try your hand at pottery making (reservations required, fees apply).

Also, the climbing kiln from the time of its founding, which is a symbol of tradition, is a must-see. You can also purchase products.

You can view and edit the sightseeing route (My Plan on My Page) that will take you around the selected spots.
