At Taiki Town, Japan's No. 1 Hometown Village in Taiki Town, Watarai District TaikiTown, you can experience a variety of experiences, including making sukiyaki using Matsusaka beef, the pride of TaikiTown. Why not stay at a farm stay in your hometown village where you can enjoy learning and interacting with nature, from vegetable harvesting and farming experiences to rice cake making to fishing and zazen meditation? Only one group can rent it out every day, so families and overseas groups can relax and enjoy the countryside atmosphere. We have reported on our experience at a facility packed with charm that can only be found in the countryside!

This time we will be introducing `` TaikiTown Village,'' where you can experience a wide variety of things, from making Matsusaka beef sukiyaki to experiencing farming.
This minshuku, which was built by renovating an old folk house, is reserved for one group per day.
This is a spacious inn where everyone from adults to children can spend a relaxing time.

At Furusato Village, in addition to agricultural experiences like harvesting vegetables, the owner and his wife will make whatever you want to do come true, such as making bread with the local cuisine of the region, Nabemochi, playing in the river, or experiencing zazen meditation at a temple.
There are lots of ways to not only learn about the environment and agriculture in the natural atmosphere, but also have fun while playing!
We have many guests from overseas, and they are very popular because we can teach them many ways to enjoy the Japanese countryside.

After passing through the clear stream of the Miyagawa River surrounded by mountains and the Agonashi Jizo statue, you will arrive at your hometown village. At the entrance, the owner couple will welcome you with a smile.
The sight of them saying ``Welcome'' to those who are visiting us for the first time, and ``Welcome back'' to those who have visited us many times, creates a nostalgic atmosphere that feels like returning to another hometown.

We will introduce you to the experiences you can have in your hometown village.
First, let's try harvesting vegetables! You can harvest seasonal vegetables such as peanuts and cucumbers grown in TaikiTown 's delicious air.
Of course, you can come empty-handed. This harvesting experience is also popular with children, and even those who don't like vegetables will start eating them.

After pulling them out with all my might, I was able to harvest big, plump peanuts.
Did you know that peanuts grow like this? You can deepen your knowledge of vegetables by picking up and harvesting vegetables that you usually eat casually.
And you can eat even more deliciously!

Of course, you can eat the vegetables you harvest!
You can enjoy cooking other ingredients other than peanuts at mealtimes. It's quite a luxury to be able to eat freshly harvested vegetables on the spot!

Freshly boiled peanuts have just the right amount of salt! It's fragrant, fluffy, and delicious, and you can't stop picking at it.
Eating the fragrant peanuts surrounded by steam will bring a smile to your face.
Looks like it would be a good snack to go with dinner drinks!

During the dining experience, you will prepare your own meals with the support of the owner couple.
Cooking rice in a kamado starts with chopping firewood!
You will be carefully taught how to split firewood, and you will actually try your hand at splitting firewood. The firewood used for kettle firing is wood that can be easily split even by women, so they can break it at a rapid pace.

Once the rice is turned on, blow in air from time to time to adjust the heat and wait for the rice to cook.
While being taught how to blow into the instrument, you will be careful not to inhale as you blow.
By using the authentic method of cooking rice, you can look forward to it even more and get excited!

At Furusato Village, one of the things that attracts a lot of attention is that you can eat Mie Prefecture's famous Matsusaka beef at a country inn!
The Matsusaka beef that is fattened in TaikiTown is called ``Nanaho Beef'' and is a pure luxury ingredient that ranks high among Matsusaka beef, which is also called a work of art.
When Shichiho beef is shipped, it is called Matsusaka beef, so it can only be eaten under this name in TaikiTown.
This experience plan where you can fully enjoy sukiyaki Shichiho beef is a luxury that you will understand once you taste it!
(The photo shows 2 servings.)

Once the iron pot has heated up, let the beef fat blend into the pot, then add the meat first and then the local vegetables.

The sound of sizzling meat whets your appetite!

While waiting for the sukiyaki to be completed, the rice was also cooked.
The rice, which is cooked in a pot using the proud rice of the owner and his wife and TaikiTown 's delicious water, is fluffy and has a much different flavor than the rice you usually eat!
It goes perfectly with the long-awaited Matsusaka beef sukiyaki.

Just when you're hungry, the long-awaited sukiyaki is ready!
The tender meat that melts in your mouth becomes even more delicious when cooked in a hot pot. The unique fat of Matsusaka beef soaks into the flavor of the hot pot, and you won't be able to stop eating it with your chopsticks!

This dining experience is very reasonable, starting at 3,980 yen per adult. We also have plans for Matsusaka beef other than Shichiho beef. You are free to bring your own ingredients, so enjoy sukiyaki with your favorite toppings.

Eating high-quality Matsusaka beef at a guesthouse is completely different from eating it at a high-end restaurant.

There is also sukiyaki made with Matsusaka beef offal, which is popular among women as it becomes soft and easy to eat when boiled. The offal may have the image of being difficult to chew, but it has a melt-in-your-mouth texture that is truly high quality beef!

Dessert after the meal is a separate expense! So, this time I tried my hand at making nabe mochi!
Making nabe mochi begins with putting soybeans in a stone bowl and turning them into soybean flour.
It's a full-fledged heavy stone utensil, but have fun spinning it around with your friends and collect a lot of soybean powder!

Nabemochi, a local sweet from Mie Prefecture, is originally made by poking it in a pot, so it is called Nabemochi.
When you add mugwort and mix it up, it smells like fresh greenery.

Add the red bean paste and make a round shape, then sprinkle with the soybean flour you made earlier and it's done!
It's a rare experience to make mochi using freshly made, fragrant soybean flour!
Each nabe mochi is very large and has a gentle mugwort flavor. It is a delicious local sweet that is easy to eat for children and the elderly, and allows you to feel the countryside of nature.
Please try making it and eating it for yourself!

After experiencing and playing a lot, it's nice to relax in the large room! The relaxing atmosphere of the countryside will soothe your daily fatigue.
A brazier, a shoji screen, a wire cushion, and so on...many people may feel the nostalgic smell of returning to their grandma's house in the countryside. It is also popular with groups as it is possible to accommodate a large number of people.
Spread your futon and relax at night. You can freely choose the bed and futon in your room. There are various rooms, so it might be fun to explore them.

Before going to bed, you can go to Aso Onsen in the town and enjoy the large public bath!
A hot spring with a nostalgic atmosphere, built in a former elementary school.

You can also have fun wearing school uniforms (school uniforms and sailor uniforms) in classrooms that are located in abandoned schools such as this one at Aso Onsen!
Why not make some unique memories to commemorate your trip? For more information, please contact TaikiTown Regional Revitalization Council.

The next morning, the owner couple saw them off, feeling a sense of regret.
When you wave at me with a gentle smile and say, ``Please come again,'' it feels like my second home, and I want to come back again. There are many customers who come back many times.

Why don't you come and visit our hometown village, where you can learn, play, and enjoy a lot of charm, surrounded by nature and under the care of a warm owner couple?
