The Owase Port Festival, which has been going on since 1950, is held on the first Saturday of August every year, and is a major summer event in Owase, now in its 70th year.

 

Due to the influence of the new coronavirus infection, in 2022 only a fireworks display called "Owase Citizen Fireworks" was held, but this year in 2023 it will be held grandly for the first time in four years as "Owase Port Festival". .

 

There are plenty of things to see, including the "Owase Itadaki City" that will be introduced later, "Chibikko Gather! Fish Catching Contest," stage events, and the "Marine Fireworks Festival," which will brighten up the festival's finale!

 

A large number of people, young and old, from both inside and outside of OwaseCity visit the Owase Port area, and the venue is filled with energy.

① Maritime fireworks display

Approximately 3,000 fireworks are launched from the embankment of Owase Port, beautifully filling the night sky and painting the sea in a variety of colors.

Due to Owase's topography, which is surrounded by mountains, the sound of the fireworks exploding is said to be loud and reverberate throughout Owase.

 

The distance from Owase Fishing Port, the venue, to the embankment where the launch site is, is approximately 400 meters in a straight line, and the large fireworks that spread out in front of you are truly impressive!

 

In addition to the regular fireworks, the Owase Port Festival's fireworks display also includes memorial service fireworks to pray for the souls of the deceased, and celebratory fireworks that announce messages for birthdays, weddings, 60th birthdays, and other celebrations. Masu.

 

Watching fireworks while thinking about the feelings of various people will be a special experience.

You can get a wide variety of fish, from those that are familiar to your table to those that will surprise you.

 

Here are some tips for catching fish.

 

Fish have a habit of hiding in the shadows, so the key is to use your body to create shade. Also, the fish will move towards the edge of the pool to hide. Therefore, it is recommended to grab it as close to the edge as possible, at the corner of the pool.

④Japan Coast Guard patrol ship “Suzuka” open to the public

With the cooperation of the Owase Coast Guard, the Japan Coast Guard's patrol boat ``Suzuka'', which is normally not available for viewing, will be open to the public.

With a total length of 89m and a total weight of 1,300 tons, the size and power of this patrol boat is truly impressive! Please take this opportunity to take a look.

 

Not only can you tour the ship, but you can also take pictures with Umimaru-kun, the mascot character of the Japan Coast Guard, and the captain of the day.

About traffic regulations

Prefectural Route 778 Kuroshio Road (Yawata Ohashi Bridge - (Old) Owase Port Service) and roads surrounding the venue will be closed to vehicles gradually from 5:30pm to 10pm.
