In addition to the popular “Begonia Garden” which is a photogenic spot, I want to visit this winter! Visit “Nabananosato Illumination”!
Very popular every year! We will also tell you how to take beautiful photos in the “tunnel of light”!

*This article is based on the content of the January 5, 2022 broadcast of "Yoshi Onii-san's "You're starting to look more like a dad", which is broadcast every Wednesday on CBC TV's "Chant!" .

I want to go this winter! To Nabananosato. Yoshi Onii-san will tour the largest begonia garden in Japan and the popular illumination spot!

1. Relax and enjoy even rainy days! begonia garden

First, let's go to the "Begonia Garden".

It's indoors, so you can enjoy the view even on rainy days!

It's also a recommended spot for people with children who can't stay until late at night.

①What is Begonia Garden?

In Japan's largest begonia garden, you can enjoy 12,000 flowers of hundreds of species from all over the world, including large begonias, all throughout the year.

As you pass through the entrance, you will find a dream-like space surrounded by begonias.

Begonias are cultivated and exhibited at all times in a large greenhouse consisting of four buildings, and with the latest air conditioning control system, they are pursuing the ideal environment for begonias.

A little bit of trivia: What is Begonia?

Begonias grow under relatively warm climatic conditions.

There are thousands of types, including hybrids!

Depending on the characteristics of stems, leaves, and flowers

1. Grove begonia, 2. They are classified into eight groups: rhizomatous begonias, 3. Rex begonias, 4. bulbous begonias, 5. bulbous begonias, 6. sempa florence, 7. winter-flowering begonias, and 8. elachiol begonias.

Even now, many hybrids have been created, but among them, the bulbous begonia that is the centerpiece of this begonia garden has large, brightly colored flowers and is of high ornamental value, but it is not cold resistant and has hot and humid summers. It is said to be difficult to cultivate as it is weak against water.

At Nabananosato Sato Begonia Garden, by keeping cultivation management as simple as possible, they create an environment that allows the plants to continue blooming for a long time.

② Begonia garden photo spot

There are many photogenic spots in the Begonia Garden!

First of all, let's take a look at the flower pose.

"It's a completely different world view than illumination, and you can experience the world like a painting."

Furthermore, in the back space, you can take great photos like this that take advantage of the reflections♪

You can also spend a relaxing time surrounded by flowers at the attached cafe.

2. Nabananosato Illumination

This winter's Nabananosato Illumination will be held until May 31, 2022!

This time, Nabananosato will tour three recommended illumination spots in Nabana no Sato!

The staff taught us how to take beautiful photos at the "Tunnel of Light" which is very popular every year.

①The largest scale in Japan! Water illumination “Taiga of Light”

First of all, it's the moment when the illuminations are turned on!

“The waiting time is also exciting!”

"Oh! It's lit! It's a rainbow. It's beautiful!"

Apparently, it's a special performance that can only be seen at the opening (when the lights are on)! ! !

This time, Nabananosato staff will show you recommended spots.

"The flow of light is beautiful. The flow of the river is delicately expressed."

This water illumination is actually inspired by the three Kiso rivers (Kiso River, Nagara River, and Ibi River). The ``Great River of Light'' is expressed using the latest LED that can produce approximately 64 billion colors!

Furthermore, one of the attractions is that you can take photos from various angles♪ It might be a good idea to find your own favorite angle.

By the way, it seems that the area on the bridge opposite the chapel (where Yoshio-san saw the moment the lights were turned on) is especially popular!

Lighting time is around sunset! (Please see the website for details). Please take a look at the illumination limited to the opening! !

② How to take beautiful photos with the “tunnel of light”!

Next came the "Tunnel of Light" which is very popular every year.

The ``Tunnel of Light'' has a total length of 200 meters. The fantastic space created by flower petal-shaped LEDs is a very popular photo spot!

"It's beautiful. You can't help but want to take a photo♪"

Here's some advice from the staff!

In fact, it seems that you can get better and brighter photos by going all the way to the middle of the tunnel than by taking photos at the entrance!

Yoshi Onii-san decided to try it out too!

First of all, snap at the entrance.

Next, smack in the middle of the tunnel.

If you compare...

"It's completely different! In the photo taken in the middle of the tunnel, the people are brighter and come out more clearly!"

If you are near the entrance, the backlight will make your face and body look dark, but if you are in the middle of the tunnel, the illumination and people will be at a certain level of brightness, making it possible to take beautiful photos!

Everyone please try it out ☆彡

③Main area This year's theme is "Sea of clouds"~UNKAI~

Next, we headed to the main area, where the theme changes every year. With a height of about 30m and a width of about 155m, it has an overwhelming sense of scale and is truly worth seeing! !

This year's theme is "Sea of Clouds."

Mountains sparkling in the sky. Flowers in full bloom in a variety of colors. The beautiful illuminations are combined with the effects of clouds and fog, creating a fantastical world.

"It's huge! It's really impressive. The theme changes every year, which makes it even more fun to come every year."

"The colors change one after another, so you never get tired of it!! You can look at it forever."

With world-class programming technology, the latest LED equipment, and newly added effects of artificial fog and clouds, it's unprecedented! A dynamic world of light is created.

Another highlight is how the way the fog flows and accumulates changes every day depending on various conditions such as the weather, wind strength, wind direction, humidity, and temperature differences!

A little bit of trivia: What is the “sea of clouds”?

A breathtaking view of mysterious nature where the clouds spread out and look like the ocean.

A natural phenomenon in which fog and stratus clouds form over a wide area in mountainous areas from before dawn until early morning due to radiation cooling.

It is a very rare scene that can only be seen at the perfect time when many conditions are in place, including atmospheric layers, temperature, wind, and other meteorological conditions, as well as seasonal and temporal conditions.

At Nabananosato, we have successfully recreated the supernatural phenomenon of a sea of clouds by creating artificial fog and clouds using new technology! It seems that fine water particles of about 10 to 20 microns, the same size as fog and clouds, are uniformly generated artificially.

By the way, in Mie Prefecture, if your timing is good, you can see it at Tsuenomine!

④And more! “Plum Tunnel”/Millennium Garden “Sea of Light”

In the ``Plum Tunnel,'' the glossy and elegant plum blossoms are vividly displayed with red, white, and pink LEDs.

In the "Sea of Light", the tree is 1000 years old! The large olive tree is brightly lit up. It seems that it is also called the "Millennium Tree" that brings happiness.

It is said that "if you hold hands in front of the Millennium Tree, you will be happy!"

3.Finally...
