Every year in March, before Buddha's death anniversary (15th), the Reclining Buddha Festival (Nirvana Festival) is held, which is said to be a ``festival that brings spring to Iseji.''
During the Reclining Buddha Festival, a painting of the Great Nirvana, one of Japan's three paintings, said to have been painted by Kyoto's Tofukuji monk, Yoshiyama Mincho, is unveiled, and many worshipers come to pray for the safety of their families.
This 16-tatami-sized painting depicts a cat, which was treated as a monster and was not allowed to be drawn among the 52 animals in the painting, but it was drawn in violation of the rules, which caused a great deal of trouble. The Nirvana ceremony at Ryukoji Temple became famous.
The opening ceremony is only held for three days in March, which is said to be ``the season of Buddha's turbulence'' and ``Kanbe no Shaka's turbulent period'' in this region, and is one of the lively festivals, with good men and women from inside and outside the prefecture visiting the shrine. I am.
There will be an unveiling of the Great Nirvana, illustrated sermons, memorial services, and an exhibition of temple treasures.

In the main hall, lectures on pictures of Nirvana and memorial services for the ancestors are held.
