“Shima Kanko Hotel The Classic” was the venue for IseShimaSummit Enjoy a rich time in an extraordinary space.

Shima Kanko Hotel attracted attention from all over the world as it was the venue for the G7 IseShimaSummit held in 2016. Renovated in the same year, the three unique features of ``The Classic'' designed by famous architect Togo Murano, ``The Bay Suite'' where all guest rooms are suites, and ``The Club'' public space create a single world. I am. This time, we will introduce the charm of the orthodox resort "The Classic" and a little about "The Club"!

Shima Kanko Hotel The Classic is built on a hill overlooking the Shima Peninsula and Ago Bay. The location is a place where you can feel the gentle flow of time, and the exterior blends in with the surrounding nature, giving off a stately atmosphere. This structure remains as it was when it was completed, and the green-blue color of the copper plate roof gives a sense of history.

As soon as I entered the entrance, a staff member casually came running up to me. At this point, it makes you think, ``As expected, a prestigious hotel is different!''
The atmosphere of the lobby is exactly like a luxury resort! The public space uses natural wood and is extremely comfortable.

Now, let's check out the features of our wide variety of guest rooms!

First, let's start with the "Premium Twin". Each and every detail of the interior design gives you a sense of quality and comfort. Surprisingly, there was no sofa; instead, there was a bench seat set up by the window. "The idea is for people to sit here, look out at the ocean, relax and enjoy talking." The speaker is Mr. Nakamura from the Sales Planning Department.

The popular ``Premium Suite'' features a living room with tatami mats and a bedroom with a daybed. Relaxing by the window while feeling the beauty of nature up close will melt away your daily stress!

All of the beds at The Classic, including the aforementioned Premium Twin and this room, are made by Simmons in the United States. As it has been awarded as the ``Bed of the World'', it is extremely comfortable to sleep on!

The ``Ambassador Suite'' feels like a mansion right in front of Ago Bay. The peaceful time spent in the view bath is a blissful moment.

I noticed this after looking at this. Both the bench seat and sofa are made of fabric rather than leather. I guess this is because it doesn't get cold in the winter and doesn't get sticky in the hot season. deep.

One of the selling points of this hotel is the amenities in the guest rooms. The cosmetics line ``Mikimoto Cosmetics,'' which was born from the dream of the king of pearls, KokichiMikimoto, to ``decorate women around the world with pearls,'' is lined up here. It's great that they have not only body soap and shampoo, but also facial cleansing foam, cosmetics, and emulsion!

This "Royal Suite" was used by the leaders during IseShimaSummit!
The building uses lighting fixtures and furniture designed by Togo Murano, and the water system remains the same, preserving the classic atmosphere of the time it first opened.
It's like a dream to be able to stay in the same room as the world's leading VIPs.

The long-awaited dinner was at the restaurant "La Mer The Classic". In a luxurious space, you can enjoy French seafood cuisine made with ingredients grown in the fertile sea.

The ``Elegant Dinner'' is a course where you can enjoy the hotel's traditional cuisine to your heart's content. The executive chef is Hiroe Higuchi, who was talked about as the ``young female executive chef'' during IseShimaSummit. It looks gorgeous, so you'll want to take a photo of it.

Of the courses, the one that shocked me the most was the "Ise lobster American sauce." The ``American sauce'' is made by frying the spiny lobsters in their shells to create the sweetness and richness unique to crustaceans, and the juicy texture of the lobsters go perfectly together!

Inside the restaurant, there is a recreation of the table where the leaders of each country actually enjoyed meals during the summit. The chairs and table are still the same as before. I realized once again how happy I was to be able to stay at the hotel chosen as the venue for the summit!
You can view it freely, and you can even take a commemorative photo with the leaders. I think I'll upload it to SNS right away.

“Shima Kanko Hotel The Classic” also has high quality facilities!
The guest lounge, a relaxing space available to all guests, was created during the renovation. During opening hours (7:00-22:00), you can enjoy coffee, tea, and sweets for free. What's more, beer and other alcoholic beverages are free, and in the evening, you can even enjoy simple hors d'oeuvres!
I feel like I'm going to get stuck into this...

The Reading Room in the Guest Lounge is stocked with hundreds of books that have been carefully selected to honor the history of the hotel, with themes such as Mie Prefecture and ingredients.
Similarly, the ``Listening Room'' has a collection of 700 CDs and 80 records, and is a luxurious space where you can immerse yourself in music tailored to the monthly theme.

*The listening room is currently closed to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

As the sun sets, people gather on the balcony to enjoy the sunset view of Ago Bay, which has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 sunsets.
Not only can you relax while admiring the spectacular view of Ago Bay, but it might also be a good idea to take some time to reflect on yourself.

Another new facility that was added during the 2016 renovation is the "Fitness Gym." This is also available to anyone who stays overnight. It is well-equipped with training machines such as treadmills with LCD panels and exercise bikes, making it popular for its easy way to get your body moving.

``The Classic Boutique'' has a tasteful display of pearl products carefully selected by the hotel and traditional crafts from the prefecture. This is the perfect store to pick up souvenirs!
You can enjoy shopping at ``The Classic Shop'' on the 1st floor and this shop even if you are not staying overnight.

From ``The Classic,'' walk through the breezeway to ``The Club,'' the building that was built when it first opened. "It was closed as a lodging building, but after renovations, it has been revived as a public space called 'The Club,'" says Nakamura. The ``Light Wall'' by Japanese paper artist Eriko Horiki welcomes you with its gentle light. In reality, the light is more "flat", but unfortunately it's hard to convey in the photo!

``?'' The atmosphere changed from the moment I stepped foot inside. In fact, the scent is different from before! "During the renovation, we introduced original fragrances from each hotel. The Classic is white tea, The Club is cypress, and The Bay Suite is soap." This kind of casual performance is amazing.

The space that was once the main dining space has been transformed into a cafe called ``Café & Wine Bar Lien'' (French for bond), where the leaders of various countries also had working lunches. The table at that time is set up in the lobby. This is also a photo spot!

Near this table, there is a desk on display that is said to have been used by author Toyoko Yamazaki, who used the Shima Kanko Hotel as her regular residence, to write her novel ``Karei na Ichizoku.''

The IseShimaSummit Gallery is located in a corner of The Club. You can see up close the various items used at the summit.

It's also fun to stroll through the vast garden (2,000 tsubo in size!) that connects the three buildings, "The Classic," "The Club," and "The Bay Suite." This is also the place where leaders lined up to take commemorative photos at the summit.

A camera stand is also set up so that you can take photos with the same composition as the iconic scene of IseShimaSummit. This kind of consideration is wonderful!

Furthermore, the round part seen in the photo has a V-shaped notch. This is a smartphone holder! You can take pictures by holding your smartphone upright.

In addition, Shima Kanko Hotel offers a wide variety of activities for its guests, from active attractions that allow you to fully enjoy nature to experiences that allow you to experience traditional culture.

One of the most recommended is the ``Starry Sky Observation Session'' led by a starry sky guide. Kashiwajima is located within Ise-Shima National Park, and as its nature is protected, there are few street lights, making it a perfect spot for stargazing. On clear days, you can enjoy the wonderful starry sky that cannot be seen in the city and can only be seen on certain days of the year.
Please check the hotel's official website for details including dates.

Furthermore, the hotel is decorated with many paintings and objects worthy of display in a museum. There are 54 items you can see in “The Classic”! Among them, one that you cannot miss is Tsuguharu Fujita's ``Noasobi,'' which is displayed in the restaurant ``La Mer the Classic.'' It is one of the remaining masterpieces in Japan, originally painted as a decorative painting for a department store.

``The Shima Kanko Hotel has a lot of history and stories that should be preserved for future generations. We want people to enjoy a historical experience while enjoying a landscape where nature and human activity are in harmony,'' says Nakamura. The rich time you spend at this prestigious hotel, which has welcomed many literary guests, is sure to be a memory that will last a lifetime!
