掲載日:2018.10.16

The Mie Prefectural Museum of Art is conveniently located approximately 1 km from Tsu Station. Enjoy art and healing in a quiet and peaceful space. In addition to popular temporary exhibitions and permanent exhibitions, there is also the sculptor Yoshitatsu Yanagihara Memorial Museum. There is also a French restaurant and a museum shop, so you can spend a relaxing time here.

I went to the Mie Prefectural Museum of Art in search of a space of art and healing, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

The Mie Prefectural Museum of Art is conveniently located approximately 1 km from Tsu Station. As you go up the gentle slope extending west from the west exit of Tsu Station, you will see a magnificent approach on your left.
There is an art museum at the top of the stairs.

When you enter the museum, you will be greeted by an impressive entrance hall with large lattice windows!
The space is open yet somehow calm. It creates an atmosphere unique to an art museum, and the entrance hall itself looks like a work of art.
When you are in a quiet and peaceful space, it feels like time passes more slowly.

Now, let's take a look inside the museum.
There are four special exhibition rooms on the first floor, and three permanent exhibition rooms on the second floor.

First, let's go to the permanent exhibition on the second floor.
The permanent exhibition is a collection of 6,000 works in the museum's collection, selected from them based on a theme. The exhibits will be changed every three months with a different theme.

Now, I would like to introduce the permanent exhibitions by theme when I went there for the interview.
(*Display contents until December 24, 2018)

~Room 1 “Modern Western Paintings – France and Japan”~

Works that are related to both France and Japan, such as works by painters who are popular in Japan such as Chagall, Renoir, and Monet, French landscapes painted by Japanese painters, and works painted using techniques that they actually learned in France. is on display.

~Second Room “The soil is alive”~

A variety of styles of pottery are on display, including unglazed works, works with glazed surfaces, and works made with particular attention to the materials themselves, such as the type of clay and place of production.

~Room 3 “Postwar Japanese Art”~

Due to copyright restrictions, there are no photographs, but works based on the realism unique to the postwar period are on display.
Compared to other works, it was easier to imagine the author's intentions, and I found the author's expressiveness and sensitivity fresh and interesting.

Next, I would like to introduce the special exhibition on the first floor.

The special exhibition at the time of this interview was ``Japanese Painting Research''. (*Ends on October 14, 2018)
Although Japanese paintings have a rigid image, they are introduced through exhibitions of sketches and painting materials as well as detailed explanations, making it an easy-to-understand exhibition that takes a step into the charm of Japanese paintings.

The painting in the photo is "Futaba" by Shoha Ito, a female Japanese painter from Ise.

The contents of the special exhibition change every one to three months, and the next exhibition will be the "Yasunari Kawabata and Riichi Yokomitsu Exhibition." A must-see for Bungo fans! !

Please check the museum's official website for the annual exhibition schedule.

Next, let's go to the Yanagihara Yoshitatsu Memorial Museum, which is located down the hallway to the left of the entrance hall.
This is an exhibition room that opened in 2003 in conjunction with the renovation of the Mie Prefectural Museum of Art, and the space has a slightly different atmosphere from the main building.

Yoshitatsu Yanagihara is a sculptor who represents the postwar Japanese sculpture world.
Exhibition Room A displays sculptures, drawings, and materials donated by Mr.

The copper-colored sculptures stand out against the all-white walls, making the works even more impressive.

Special exhibits are regularly displayed in Exhibition Room B, and at the time of our interview, the ``Toshio Tsuchishima Exhibition'' was being held. (until December 2, 2018)

Toshio Tsuchishima is an artist from Mie Prefecture who primarily works on oil paintings and copperplate prints.

The works are created with the themes of ``people'' representing the soul and spirit, and ``things'' representing inorganic stillness.

In the basement of the Yanagihara Memorial Museum, there is a French restaurant called ``Musee Bon Vivant'' with an elegant atmosphere.
How about having a luxurious lunch while still retaining the lingering feeling of the museum?

By the way, this restaurant is the first to be certified as a "Mie Gibier" restaurant. You can enjoy game cuisine in style.

After viewing, go shopping at the shop.

Here you can get goods related to works unique to the museum.

There is a family room in front of the museum shop.
This is a space where children can enjoy picture books and play equipment, as well as a nursing area, making it a space designed for people with small children. This is great for mothers who are raising children.
Additionally, childcare services may be provided during special exhibitions, so please inquire with the museum.

There are also strollers and wheelchairs available for rent at the museum entrance, so anyone can enjoy the museum.

As I have introduced so far, the Mie Prefectural Museum of Art has a very calm atmosphere.

The soft indirect lighting in the exhibition room creates an indescribably cozy feeling that makes you forget about everything else.

Whether you are interested in art or not, why not experience a different type of healing from nature while touching the works?
