Actress Ai Yamamoto from Mie Prefecture travels around Mie Prefecture! This is a travel report article that introduces in his own writing what he ``saw, heard, and felt'' by visiting tourist spots in Mie Prefecture himself.

**********

This time we came to MatsusakaCity!
Matsusaka MatsusakaCity is known for its Matsusaka beef, but it is actually a city that has produced many nationally famous merchants, and you can see the townscape full of elegance.

This time, I would like to fully enjoy Matsusaka, a charming city full of history and culture!

First of all, go to the Matsusaka MatsusakaCity Station!

There are many sightseeing maps about MatsusakaCity and Mie Prefecture available here, as well as guidebooks in various languages in addition to Japanese, and many foreigners have visited.
It is a facility full of information where you can thoroughly listen to tourist information and highlights of Matsusaka. Instead of just planning a trip, it would be great to just casually visit Matsusaka and have them guide you to tourist spots that match the season!

Next we headed to Yawataya Kimono Rental Center (Kimono dressing room).

Here, you can try on a kimono made from Matsusaka cotton, which is characterized by its indigo dyed color and striped pattern.
The kimono you can rent is easy to put on, and I was able to put it on in just 3 minutes! Not only was it fast, but it was also extremely comfortable and I had a great time.

*The Kimono Rental Center is closed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. However, you can rent it at Yahataya next door.

Inside the store, there were many rental kimonos and items made from Matsusaka cotton, and it was fun just looking at them.
Kimono rentals are reasonably priced at 3,000 yen for 3 hours, and they have a wide selection of not only women's clothing but also men's clothing.
There are many types of kimono, and they all have different patterns and colors, so you'll be spoiled for choice!
Another nice feature is that you can take your time choosing which kimono to wear.

The ``indigo'' color used in Matsusaka Momen is said to be the color that best suits Japanese skin.
It seems that many people like it because it is a design that can be matched by anyone, young or old!

In addition to family and friends, why not wear it with your loved ones, such as taking a walk in Matsusaka Momen with your significant other?

After changing clothes, we will immediately parade around the town ♪

The first place we headed to was the new landmark "Goshan Pocket Park" that was just opened in 2016!
The symbolic presence of this place is this lion statue.

In fact, it was donated as a symbol that connects the history and future of the Mitsui family and MatsusakaCity.
Regarding the Mitsui family, MitsuiOutletPark and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation are familiar to everyone. All of these were built by the Mitsui family, including TakatoshiMitsui, who was originally from Matsusaka.
The Lion Statue was modeled after the lion statue under Nelson's Column in London's Trafalgar Square, and it is said that your wishes will come true if you ride on its back.

A cute lion statue with an indescribably adorable expression.
Because she was wearing a kimono, I couldn't actually straddle her, so I patted her on the head instead!
May your wishes come true.

Next we visited the Matsuzaka Castle ruins.
Matsuzaka Castle was built in 1588 by Ujisato Gamo, a master castle builder.

The proudly towering stone wall has become a symbol of Matsusaka, and when you see it up close, you'll be overwhelmed by its presence.

Nearby are MotooriNorinaga Memorial Museum and GojobanYashiki, a samurai nagaya. In spring, about 300 cherry blossom trees fill the stone walls and the area is crowded with tourists.
The stone walls and cherry blossoms go well together and are said to be popular among locals. The cherry blossoms here at the Matsuzaka Castle ruins are said to be lit up at night!
The illuminated cherry blossoms have a very magical atmosphere, and are said to have a different beauty than during the day. You can feel the remnants of the main castle in the stable stone walls, and as you walk around the vast grounds, you can almost hear the sounds of the days when it was a bustling castle town.

Although I wasn't able to see everything this time, I heard that you can get a panoramic view of the city of Matsusaka from the castle ruins, and even see the Nagaya GojobanYashiki.
Admission to the Matsuzaka Castle Ruins is free, so you can just pop in for a walk. You can also take a walk with your children. It's also good to come sightseeing with your family. It's also great to enjoy the night view with your lover.
Please enjoy the Matsuzaka Castle ruins from various angles♪

*If you want to enjoy the whole area, we recommend wearing sneakers as there are some hills.

Next, we went to GojobanYashiki Yashiki next door.
GojobanYashiki is a quaint samurai residence where the Kishu feudal retainers who were entrusted with guarding the castle lived.
It is still used as a residence, and some parts of the mansion are open to the public for free.

The beautifully arranged makigaki fences that line both sides of the stone pavement are very atmospheric, and the scenery is so beautiful that I couldn't stop taking pictures.
GojobanYashiki is a very photogenic scenery, and you can also take pictures of it on Instagram, which is currently trending.

The post I saw on the way was so cute that I couldn't help but snap at it.
It was such a wonderful place that you could feel as if you had traveled back in time no matter where you walked!

After walking a lot, I got hungry.
That's when I came to this Japanese confectionery shop, Tatsumido.

Tatsumido is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop that has been in business for over 100 years since the first year of the Taisho era.

Tatsumido, which is particular about making each item by hand, carries a wide variety of sweets, including Japanese sweets with motifs of local specialties.

The first thing I received was ``Seasonal Fresh Sweets''.
The moment I put it in my mouth, the sweetness of the elegant bean paste suddenly spread and I felt very happy♪
A gentle sweetness pervades my body after so much walking.

I would like to introduce some other Japanese sweets from Tatsumido.
This is "Mo-chan Manju".
It is a deep-fried manju with a chewy and fragrant skin made with Ise sweet potatoes, and the inside is stuffed with strained bean paste and Matsusaka beef shigureni. A collaboration between Matsusaka beef and Japanese sweets. The novelty of this bun is fun!

This deliciousness is irresistible! (lol)

Next is "Suzu Monaka".
This is a bell-shaped monaka that was loved by MotooriNorinaga great figure in Matsusaka.
There are two types: one with grained bean paste made from Hokkaido-produced azuki beans, and the other with yuzu bean paste made with home-grown yuzu!
This is Tatsumido's famous confectionery, where you can fully enjoy the sweetness of the bean paste.

At the end, we had our photo taken with everyone from Tatsumi-do.
Everyone welcomed me kindly and warmly, and we had a great time chatting with each other.
During the interview, there were many customers visiting the shop, and it was very impressive to see them all smiling as they chose Japanese sweets. You can buy as little as one piece, and there are table seats inside the store, so it's perfect for a break during a wandering trip.

It was a wonderful place to take a break and take a breather. Thank you for the delicious Japanese sweets!

This concludes this trip.
When I was in high school, I went to a high school in Matsusaka, and I usually just casually walk around MatsusakaCity, but on this trip, I saw many scenes of Matsusaka that I didn't know about.
Through this project, I was able to learn a lot of aspects of Matsusaka that I didn't know about. I started to like Matsusaka even more!
When you come to Matsusaka, why not eat delicious food, experience history, and be healed?
