Tsu Fireworks Festival 2023 🎆 Explanation of stalls, parking lot, and launch location

The 70th Tsu Fireworks Festival will be held in 2023 on July 29th! The event will be held on a pre-coronavirus scale, with food stalls, approximately 5,000 fireworks, and free parking available. This article provides detailed information about the 2023 Tsu Fireworks Festival.

What is the Tsu Fireworks Festival?

The Tsu Fireworks Festival is a historic fireworks festival that has been held since the Taisho era.

The festival will be held for the 70th time in 2023, and will be held on the same scale as before the coronavirus, with food stalls and an hour-long fireworks display.

The event was held on a smaller scale in 2022, so it's been 4 years since the event was held at the same scale as usual.

Event date/launch location/time

The dates, launch locations, and times for the 70th Tsu Fireworks Festival 2023 are as follows.

🗓️ Date: July 29th (Saturday) *In case of inclement weather, it will be postponed to July 30th (Sunday) or July 31st (Monday).
🎆 Venue (launch location): South off the coast of akogi TsuCity
⏰ Launch time: 20:00-21:00

The launch site is akogi Beach, but you can also enjoy viewing from the adjacent Gotemba Beach.

Will there be food stalls?

The 2022 Tsu Fireworks Festival was held on a reduced scale, so there were no food stalls, but there are plans to have food stalls in 2023.

The store will be located in the Tsu Yacht Harbor parking lot, and there are plans to open approximately 100 stores.

On the day of the fireworks festival, it looks like it will be crowded with stalls selling shaved ice, yakisoba, etc.

Where is the free parking?

There are two free temporary parking lots for the 70th Tsu Fireworks Festival 2023: 1,000 spaces at TsuCity Industry and Sports Center (Saolina) and 2,000 spaces at Tsu Boat Race.

There are some sections where traffic restrictions will be in place on the day of the trip, so it's best to check the traffic restriction notice (PDF) published by TsuCity Tourism Association in advance.

Boat Race Tsu (2000 cars)

The closest boat race to the fireworks venue is Tsu Boat Race, which is less than a 10-minute walk from akogi Beach and a few minutes walk from Gotemba Beach.

Boat Race Tsu is a boat racing course located along National Route 23, making it easy to access.

One thing to keep in mind is that every year it fills up a few hours before the fireworks go off.

In 2022, when it was held on a reduced scale, it was full at 7pm, so it may be safe to park around 3pm to 4pm this year.

TsuCity Industry/Sports Center (1000 units)

It takes about 15 minutes by car from TsuCity Industry and Sports Center (Saolina) to the fireworks venue, but a special paid direct bus runs from there.

The one-way fare is 230 yen for adults and 120 yen for children, and the operating hours are as follows.

🚌 Outbound (Saolina parking lot → Fireworks venue)
Between 16:00 and 20:00

🚌 Return trip (fireworks venue → Saolina parking lot)
Extra buses will be operated from time to time after the fireworks have finished.
*Last bus leaves at 22:00

The bus stop for the fireworks venue is ``Otobe Asahi Bus Stop'', which is located near `` TsuNagisamachi', which operates high-speed boats.

It's about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop to akogi Beach, and it's about a 20-30 minute walk to the launch site.

There will be more buses on the day of the fireworks festival, so you won't have to wait too long at the bus stop, but it may take longer depending on traffic conditions.

If you want to avoid traffic jams, please see the following ``Why taking the train or walking is recommended.''

Reasons why train and walking are recommended

After the fireworks display, some entrances and exits to the free temporary parking lot at Boat Race Tsu are restricted, resulting in traffic jams like every year.

If you want to avoid getting home late due to traffic jams, we recommend taking the train and walking!

If you encounter traffic jams, you may be stuck for 30 minutes to an hour, but if you walk, you can get to the station without being affected by traffic jams.

The nearest stations to the fireworks venue are Tsushinmachi Station on the Kintetsu Railway and akogi Station on the JR Kisei Main Line, and it is a 25-30 minute walk from akogi Beach, the venue.

There are many supermarkets and convenience stores along the way from the station to the venue, so you can easily purchase drinks and food. *Be sure to take your trash home with you.

How many launches?

More than 5,000 fireworks will be launched at the 70th Tsu Fireworks Festival 2023, and 10 fireworks programs will be held every hour.

The contents of the fireworks display are announced in advance, and you can enjoy a variety of elaborate fireworks displays, including suicide bombings at sea, rainbow-colored fireworks, and impressive fireworks that begin with a countdown.

The contents of the fireworks program are explained below.

fireworks program

We will provide an easy-to-understand explanation of the fireworks program for the 70th Tsu Fireworks Festival 2023, based on materials released by TsuCity.

*Publication document 1: PDF document released on July 4, 2023
(Explanation about the fireworks display starts from the 24th slide)
*Public material 2: YouTube video of the mayor's regular press conference released on July 6, 2023

⚠️ All the photos introduced in this article are from the past and may differ from the fireworks display on that day.

① Countdown prologue ⏰ 20:00~

The event opens with a gorgeous display that expresses the 3-2-1 countdown with text fireworks!

Furthermore, the simultaneous firing of "70 shots" to commemorate the 70th event is a must-see.

I think this "70 fireworks firing at the same time" is an overwhelming amount of fireworks, so if you're taking photos, be sure to have your camera ready when the countdown begins.

② Twilight Magic ⏰ 20:06〜

A fireworks program where the highlight is the light of Japan's ancient Japanese spirit.

There will be fireworks that will let you enjoy the beauty of Japanese fireworks.

③ Rainbow relaxation ⏰ 20:12 ~

The fireworks "Rainbow Bridge" that decorated the last of the retirement fireworks show of the leading songstress of the Heisei era will be perfectly recreated at the Tsu Fireworks Festival!

You'll definitely be fascinated by the rainbow-colored fireworks that color the night sky🎵

④ Light performance ⏰ 20:18 ~

The shapes and colors of the fireworks change one after another! You will be overwhelmed by Reiwa's latest fireworks technology.

You might also see fireworks with shapes other than round ones?

⑤ Sparkling duet ⏰ 20:24 ~

A program that uses fireworks to depict the scenery of each of TsuCity 's four seasons.

I think it will be more enjoyable if you imagine the place in which the fireworks are displayed while watching them.

My prediction as TsuCity is👇

🌸Spring: Tsukairaku Park → Pink (cherry blossoms) and purple (purple azalea) fireworks
🏖️Summer: Gotemba Coast → All-blue (sea) fireworks
🍁Autumn: Kawachi Valley → Red and yellow (autumn leaves) fireworks
⛄️Winter: Misugi Town → Green (cedar trees) and white (snow) fireworks

I would be happy if even one of them was correct 🎵

⑥ Port town illumination ⏰ 20:30 ~

A program that fills the night sky with pastel-colored fireworks.

The sight of the entire sky being wrapped in a fantastical world is breathtakingly beautiful.

⑦ Shining craftsmanship ⏰ 20:36 ~

A program featuring artistic fireworks ordered from all over the country.

You can enjoy a variety of unique and beautiful fireworks 🎵

⑧ Wonderful Flower Corridor ⏰ 20:42 ~

A program where fireworks that change color depending on the time are displayed.

I think it's difficult to capture the change in color in photos, so let's enjoy the beauty with the naked eye.

⑨ Large Peacock on the Sea ⏰ 20:48 ~

This program will feature the return of a maritime suicide bomber for the first time in four years.

The sight of maritime suicide bombs launched one after another from a speeding ship is a sight to behold!

The number is 70 large balls in a row!

Furthermore, the collaboration with large fireworks that launch vertically at the same time as the fireworks on the sea is a must-see.

⑩ Great golden waterfall for a bright tomorrow ⏰ 20:54 ~

The climax is the Golden Falls, which is the customary feature of the Tsu Fireworks Festival.

Large fireworks are set off one after another, and golden fireworks fill your field of vision.

You can enjoy an overwhelmingly powerful fireworks display that is perfect for the finale.

About live streaming and information on the day of fireworks

The 70th Tsu Fireworks Festival 2023 will be streamed live on the official You Tube channel of the Tsu Fireworks Festival Executive Committee.

You can watch the fireworks as many times as you like after the festival ends until August 31st.

Furthermore, bus service information and traffic regulation information will be announced on the official Instagram of the Tsu Fireworks Festival Executive Committee.

In 2022, information about fireworks was frequently posted on Instagram stories.

After the fireworks festival ends, they will continue to publish (repost) photos of the Tsu Fireworks Festival on Instagram.

Why not post your proud fireworks photo with the hashtag #Tsu Fireworks Festival #70th Tsu Fireworks Festival 2023?

Your photo may be selected 🎵

What did you think

The 70th Tsu Fireworks Festival 2023 will have about 2,000 more fireworks than last time, and the sponsorship money has also increased, so it will be an even more spectacular fireworks display. I think.

As TsuCity, I am very happy because this is the first time in about 4 years that the event will be held at the scale it was before the coronavirus outbreak.

In fact, I provided the photo I took for the Tsu Fireworks Festival 2023 poster.

I will try my best to take pictures again this year so that I can provide next year's photos as well.
