Tereki-san's Seventeenth Night

Every year on October 17th, about 250 fireworks are set off slowly. There are also stalls on the grounds, which are crowded with people.
It is said that it began when Nagato no kami, who was good at fire ninjutsu such as fire jutsu, fire tube, and noroshi, dedicated fireworks, and it is the last fireworks to be dedicated in the Iga region. Currently, fireworks are performed by craftsmen, but until the end of the Taisho era, it is said that all the fireworks were made by hand by young village parishioners.

Tejiki Shrine is said to have been enshrined here about 730 years ago, during the Sho'o era (1288-1292), from Togakushi Shrine and Okusha in Togakushi Village, Nagano Prefecture (currently Togakushi, Nagano Prefecture). The enshrined deity, Tente Rikio-no-Mikoto, is a powerful deity among the gods.
The main shrine also has a very rare bell cord (weighing about 2 tons, circumference of about 4 meters, height of about 3 meters), which is said to be the heaviest in Japan and has been offered since the Edo period as a wish.
Tehiki Shrine is affectionately known as ``Teriki-san of yubune.''
