Travel to IgaCity on the Ninja Train.

掲載日:2011.06.12

IgaCity is the birthplace of the Iga-ryu ninja, a castle town that retains a strong vestige of the past, and is also known as the hometown of haiku master MatsuoBasho. The Ueno Tenjin Festival, Iga-Yaki, Kumihimo, Katayaki, Iga beef, Iga rice, and Iga sake are also famous. This time, we focused on ninjas ♪ (September 2010)

From Kintetsu Iga kambe Station, transfer to Iga Railway to Ueno City Station. The train you will board is a ninja train designed by Leiji Matsumoto. There are 3 types: pink, blue, and green!
When I arrived at Ueno City Station, I saw ninjas lurking in various places along with Iga Railway's mascot character, Fukunin. Also, IgaCity 's mascot "Ninta Toshinobu" will be there to welcome you. As expected of a ninja village.

First up is the ninja mansion. Although the house looks like an old folk house, it was relocated from a building where ninjas lived, so it is full of tricks and tricks, such as twists and turns, trick doors, hidden stairs, and secret loopholes. I wanted to experience it myself. .
The ninjutsu experience hall connected to the ninja house has many weapons such as shurikens and ninja tools on display. ``Shuriken'' and ``kunai'' come in many different shapes, and there are different ways to throw and use them.

Next is the Ninja Tradition Museum, which recreates the life of a ninja. I am very interested in the fact that ninjas have excellent intelligence and physical strength.
It is said that the ninja trained to hold a 60kg rice bale with just his thumb and forefinger. If you can do this, you can even feel the ceiling.
He also learned how to find water, directions, times, and even forecast the weather. Ninjas excelled in medicine, pharmacology, psychology, and astronomy, and were able to memorize difficult ninja characters and codes using rice grains. It was truly amazing.

Finally, there was a shop with ninja goods. Shuriken and Kunai seem to be the most popular. I bought a shuriken, a ruler, and a ninja headband.

You can also try your hand at throwing shuriken. I hit it 5 times and hit the mark twice! It's fun and you'll definitely get hooked.
Also, the final round of the 2nd Iga-ryu Shuriken Hitting Championship will be held on Sunday, October 3rd. A shuriken-throwing event in which the winners of each qualifying round in Osaka, Nagoya, and Iga areas compete. If you get first place, you will receive a pure gold shuriken.

After enjoying NinjaMUSEUMofIgaryu, we stopped by the Danjiri Kaikan to see Danjiri and souvenirs.
In addition to the specialty Iga-Yaki and Kumihimo, we also have Japanese sake made from Iga rice, Katayaki, Ninja Monaka, and even the popular character Iga☆Grio-kun.
I bought toilet paper with ninja characters and the famous Katayaki as souvenirs.

In the end, it's definitely something delicious♪ While I was torn between Iga beef and dengaku, this time I went to Igamon Machiya Saizen, which opened in January and is a renovated 120-year-old townhouse.
Iga is packed with restaurants, specialty product sales corners, Iga-Yaki and miscellaneous goods galleries, and more. The “mountain meal” full of local seasonal ingredients was the best♪

"Danjiri" seen at Danjiri Kaikan. This time, it will appear at the "Ueno Tenjin Festival" which will be held from October 23rd (Saturday) to October 25th (Monday). This festival has been going on for over 400 years and has been designated as a national important intangible folk cultural property.
The sight of nine danjiri floats and over 100 demons parading through the castle town is gorgeous and impressive.
