Introducing the charming Toshijima Island!

掲載日:2011.06.12

The people of the island are full of humanity. The climate of the island has been cultivated over many years. Rich nature. Toshijima is the largest island in Toba Bay and is full of charm♪ (July 2010)

Board a municipal liner from Sadahama Port, which is about a 5-minute walk from JR/Kintetsu Toba Station. Along with the passengers, there are plenty of newspapers and food items on board. This is an indispensable and important ship.
If you continue forward while looking at Mitsushima on your left, you will soon see Toshijima, then after a while you will see Sugashima on your right and Kamishima ahead.

We arrived at Toshi Port and met up with the staff from Shima no Ryosha, the company that helped us this time. We are an island travel producer who conveys the charm of the island to the visitor's heart's content through the experience of life on the island.
I immediately went for a stroll through the back alleys. The cute handcart ``Jinjiroguruma'' that is very popular on the island also made an appearance, and we were guided around the back alleys.

On this day, there was a festival called Tennosai. At the eaves of a house with small children, there was a bamboo tree with strips of paper tied with wishes written on it.
The children wrote cute wishes such as ``May everyone live a long life,'' ``May there be no earthquakes, tsunamis, or fires,'' and ``May I become a regular.''

Learn about the island's unique life and culture, such as the ``Maruhachi'' written on the doorboard of a house, the ``sardines'' sandwiched between the doorboards, the ``shimenawa'' ropes hung over several ropes, and the only dead-end alley ``Sande (turban shell) bottom.'' , explained in detail.
Very interesting story ☆ I will omit the meaning of each. Please experience it firsthand, see, hear, and discover!

Next was the ``kombo hoisting experience'' where we pulled up over 30 baskets that had been set up the day before. We get on a small boat and lift them up one by one. I'm excited and excited.
The moment you lift it out of the sea, you hear the sound of something bouncing! When I looked into the basket, I saw a variety of things such as conger eel, octopus, hermit crab, etc. It was a big catch☆

Next, try AmaHut(Amagoya)experience. Along with the food that we had prepared, we also had some food that was harvested from Kakoage specially grilled.
While listening to stories from active Ama divers, we enjoyed the bounty of freshly caught seafood. It was delicious. ``The ocean is a treasure chest. We all share the ocean,'' said the ama diver, which really left an impression on me. thank you very much.

That day, I stayed at the ryokan "Toshijima Onsen Nakamuraya" in Wagu.
This hot spring inn is located on a hill near Wagu Port and the beach, and the view, hot springs, food, and hospitality were all outstanding. It seems that many celebrities are also visiting.

The next day, I went to the Toba Isobe Fisheries Association Toshi Branch Market, which is adjacent to Toshi Port. You can take a tour here.
As the auction begins at noon, boats returning from fishing rush back to the port, and the fish they unload are brought to the market one after another. The market was full of vigor☆

The fish brought to the market are weighed in order and placed in rows of tanks. Of course, it's still alive and fresh!
When the time came, the auction finally started. At the signal from the fishermen's cooperative, brokers and innkeepers place bids. The decision is made instantly, and the fish are moved from tank to tank and put up for auction at great speed.
I thoroughly enjoyed the charm of the island.
In addition to this, the island's travel agency offers programs that allow you to experience the charm of the island, such as the ``Ukishima Natural Aquarium,'' where you can interact with living things on an uninhabited island during low tide.
Please come and visit Toshijima, which is full of charm♪
