We enjoyed the photogenic scenery in HigashiKishu region, which is rich in nature! Get delicious gourmet food and souvenirs ♪ Please take a look at the report of our 1 night and 2 day trip where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery that can only be seen at this time of year!

Today is a trip to HigashiKishu! While enjoying delicious food at a great price, I would like to visit many photogenic scenic views.
The journey begins here at Michi-no-eki Kumanohana no Hana-no-Iwaya.
At this Michi-no-eki, you can purchase local specialties and special products, and there is also a rest area.

Hananoiwaya-jinjaShrine said to be Japan's oldest shrine, is located right next to this Michi-no-eki. Please come and visit.

We asked the staff about recommended souvenirs.
This is "Otsuna Mochi (110 yen each)".
It is a popular product that uses locally harvested ancient rice and can only be purchased at this Michi-no-eki.

The ``Ancient Rice Mitarashi Dango'' (100 yen each) is also made using ancient rice.
The food is baked to order, so you can enjoy freshly baked food. The grilled eyes are fragrant and delicious! This "Ancient Rice Mitarashi Dango" is also a popular item that can only be eaten here.

Speaking of Kumano, you can't forget about citrus fruits. Citrus cultivation is popular in this warm region.
Yumekobo Kumano's ``Multi Juice (1,350 yen/720ml)'' was offered at IseShimaSummit held in 2016.

I am very satisfied with the purchase of many souvenirs.

Now, let's go to Hananoiwaya-jinjaShrine. It's right next to Michi-no-eki Kumano Hana-no-Iwaya, just a 1-minute walk away.

Hananoiwaya-jinjaShrine is said to be the oldest shrine in Japan, as recorded in the Nihon Shoki. It has been registered as a World Heritage Site as part of the ``Mountain Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes.''
At Hananoiwaya-jinjaShrine, the ``Otsunakeke ritual'' is held twice a year (February 2nd and October 2nd) as part of the regular festival.
A roughly 170m long rope is passed from the sacred object 45m above the ground to the sacred pine kounogi in the southern corner of the precincts. This ``Otsuwakake Shinto ritual'' was designated as a ``Mie Prefecture Intangible Folk Cultural Property'' in 1962, and is always crowded with people.

Next we came to the `` Michi-no-eki KihochoUmigamePark''.

This is the southernmost Michi-no-eki in Mie Prefecture, with a direct sales store for local products, an information corner, and a restaurant.

There is a special corner in the local product center for products made with the famous Meyer lemon.

In addition, there are a variety of specialty products and specialty products such as vegetables, rice, fruits, sweets, juices, and other processed foods grown in KihoTown.

When you go up to the second floor, there is a snack corner where you can enjoy meals and tea while looking out at the ocean.
The recommended item is the Turtle Pancake (500 yen), which is shaped like a sea turtle. The vanilla ice cream head is also cute!

The breeding building where the sea turtles from which Michi-no-eki takes its name is kept is a must-see spot.
Admission is free to this facility, and large sea turtles can be seen swimming leisurely in the pool within the facility.

Be sure to check out the irregular events where you can touch sea turtles every Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays in the morning (10:00-12:00)!

Next, to eat delicious food that can only be found in HigashiKishu, we headed to Nekketsu Napoli Daishokudo and Couscous, located about 15 minutes north by car from Michi-no-eki KihochoUmigamePark.

When you enter the store, you will find a stone oven behind the large window!
The anticipation of finding something delicious increases.

At this restaurant, the seafood is sourced from Owase, the meat is locally raised such as Kishu Iwashimizu pork and Mikumano beef, and the vegetables are sourced from contracted farmers KumanoCity, using ingredients from the Kumano and HigashiKishu regions. You can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine from Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.

The owner and chef, Mr. Hamano, is a skilled person who makes everything by hand.
In the winter, they even make handmade pork products such as chorizo and salsiccia using locally produced Kishu Iwashimizu pork.

They even make their own breads such as campagne and whole wheat bread, as well as bird's nest-like containers to put the bread in.

On this day, we will try the recommended ``Owase spider shrimp and squid spaghetti (1500 yen)'' and ``Kumano tomato margherita (1600 yen).''

Mr. Hamano is one of the few talented chefs in Japan to hold a chef's license officially recognized by the Greek government.

I am grateful for the opportunity to experience cuisine that uses plenty of the bounty of this region.

Tonight, after traveling around HigashiKishu region, we will spend the night at Iruka Onsen Hotel Seiryuso.

This hotel underwent a complete renovation in November of last year, making it even more comfortable and convenient to stay in.
The interior of the hotel is made with plenty of cypress wood, giving it a warm feel, and the smiling faces of the hotel staff create a relaxing atmosphere.

Today we will be staying in a room in the new building that was newly built last year.
The room is a Japanese-Western style room, where you can stretch your legs on the tatami mats and relax, while resting on the bed to recover from fatigue.

The refreshing scent of cypress wafts throughout the room, soothing your mind and body.
There is also a simple alkaline hot spring that you can take a day trip to (620 yen for adults, 310 yen for children, 510 yen for seniors over 65).

And for the long-awaited dinner, you will enjoy a Kaiseki meal using local ingredients such as beautiful Kumano beef and KumanoJidori(TheLocalBrandChicken).

The shop adjacent to the lobby has a wide lineup of local specialties and specialties.

Among the recommended items are Doburoku (280 ml 930 yen, 72 ml 1850 yen) made with rice from nearby MaruyamaSenmaida, Sanma soy sauce (700 yen), Niihime juice (720 yen), and Kiwa pickled plums (2470 yen). This is our own original product.

Why not get up early the next morning and go see the fantastic scenery?
At Tsuenomine in Kiwa-cho, KumanoCity, where I stayed at Iruka Onsen Hotel Toryuso, when you look down from a high position such as a mountain, you can see a ``sea of clouds'' where the clouds spread out under your feet like a sea. .

〇YouTube Sea of clouds at Tsuenomine

The best time to see a sea of clouds is from before dawn to early morning. There are various other weather conditions, but why not stay overnight and try your hand at taking photos and videos of the sea of clouds?

This is a phenomenon called ` FudenOroshi(MorningMist) Fuden Oroshi,'' where morning mist flows like a waterfall from ``Fuden Pass,'' which extends from Kiwa-cho in MihamaTown to the Oroshi area in KumanoCity cho.

It is said that the best time to see FudenOroshi(MorningMist) is early in the morning, especially from late autumn to winter. This is a fantastic and photogenic landscape that you definitely want to see!
