Enichizan Kannonji Daihoin Temple, commonly known as ``Tsu Kannon.'' One of Japan's three Kannon statues, which has a history of over 1,300 years and was loved by many military commanders, is actually located in daimon, TsuCity! A power spot that brings blessings such as fulfillment of wishes and abundant harvest. We will report on hidden spots in TsuCity that you will definitely want to visit, from historical charm to information on nearby shops.

As you enter the shopping street from daimon, Tsu TsuCity, National Route 23, you will see a large red gate.

Enichizan Kannonji, commonly known as Tsukannon, has a history of over 1,300 years and was once patronized by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the sixth Shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate, Yoshinori Ashikaga. One of the oldest temples of the Shingon sect.

In fact, it is not well known, but it is counted as one of Japan's three Kannon temples, along with Sensoji Temple in Asakusa and Osu Kannon in Nagoya!

When you are greeted by the Nio statues on the left and right and try to pass through the gate, there is a stone sitting in the center!

This stone is called a ``Nadeishi'' and is said to bring good health and peace.
It is said that if you rub this stone on the affected area with your hand, the area will get better!

First, let's cleanse our hands at the Chozusha.

It is made of copper and dates from 1836. On the left side, there is an explanation about the cultural properties held.

Tsu Kannon houses approximately 600 treasures, including designated cultural properties. Buddhist statues, paintings, ancient documents, and other items are displayed to the public about four times a year based on a theme.

The precincts are quite spacious.

On this day, a summer festival was being held, and the place was crowded with many people.
The fair is usually held on the 18th of every month, so we recommend going on that day!

And what you can see in the back is the five-storied pagoda.
Kokotsu Kannon is the only pagoda in Mie Prefecture that has a five-storied wooden pagoda. Let's take a closer look!

This is the main hall. It is a beautiful vermilion color, just like the gate.

At that time, it was said that one out of every five people would come to worship here, as it was considered a key spot for Okage-mairi!

There are two Jizo statues on the left and right sides of the main hall.

The one on the left is "Baku Jizo"
The one on the right is "Yoraku Jizo."

First, rub the same spot on the Bakuku Jizo where you feel pain, then place your hands on the Yoraku Jizo, hoping that it will make your wish come true.
It is said that it will be easier to have your wishes heard by the Buddha!

And this is the main hall.
"On Arorikya Sowaka"
When recited for the third time, your wishes such as fulfillment of your wishes, safety at sea, and a good harvest will be granted.

By the way, Tsu Kannon has been certified as the first shrine of the ``Ise no Tsu Shichifukujin'', which includes seven shrines and temples in TsuCity.
It is said that if you visit first, your wishes will be more easily heard.

In the "Ise no Tsu Shichifukujin", the Tsu Kannon is "Bishamonten" (top right of the photo), which is said to be the god of prayer for victory. Colored paper is also available, and you can get Goshuin-style stamps from each temple and shrine! It's fun to collect them. Next, let's visit the inner shrine where the principal image is enshrined.

A glittering and solemn atmosphere.
Many Buddha statues are enshrined here.

This is the standing statue of Shokannon, which is the principal image of worship.

It is a replica, and the Shokanzeon Bodhisattva is enshrined behind the door.

A special opening ceremony is held only once a year.

And this is Kokufu Amida Nyorai.
It is said to be the main Buddha of Amaterasu Omikami, and so many worshipers visited during the Edo period that it was sung, ``Ise is in Tsu, Tsu is in Ise.''

This is the awarding place. I would like to introduce a few things I found at the awarding place.

This is a wooden tag.

There are various types of wishes depending on the wishes, such as ``I pray for your recovery from illness or injury,'' ``I hope you meet a wonderful person,'' and ``Success in business.''

This is "longevity candy".
I'm looking forward to tasting it.

Various events are held at Tsu Kannon throughout the year.

It's nice to experience the different atmosphere depending on the season.

As soon as you leave the temple, there is a duty free shop.

Let's stop by.

A variety of Japanese-style goods were on sale, and the staff were warm and welcoming.

There is a shopping street around Tsu Kannon.
This shopping street has a nostalgic atmosphere that makes you feel at ease. It looks like it would be fun to take a walk around ♪

There are many gourmet spots around TsuCity Kannon, such as Heiji rice crackers, Hachimitsu-Man, Toraya's fruit daifuku, etc., so we recommend going on a gourmet tour when you come to Tsu Kannon.
