saikuu Ruins, a historic site located in Meiwa Town MeiwaTown District, Mie Prefecture
In this historic place, spring flowers such as rape blossoms, plum blossoms, and yukiya willow are in full bloom one after another.
This time, we will also introduce "Saio Garden", which was born as a new photo spot in MeiwaTown!

◆Article creation: Hanachiro
A father of a naughty daughter and a selfish son who lives in IseCity.
There tends to be an increase in photos of children looking like idiots (lol), but do they look energetic, fun, and cute? We are active with this motto!

After actually going out with my family, I'm sharing the charms of Mie that I highly recommend.

*Photos posted include those taken in 2021.

What is saikuu ruins?

saikuu is located in MeiwaTown, located between IseCity and MatsusakaCity, and is the town where the palace of ``Saio'', who served Amaterasu Omikami at Ise Grand Shrine on behalf of the IseJingu, was located.
The ruins of saikuu, which is said to be a phantom palace, currently not only has related facilities such as SaikuHistoricalMuseum and Saiku Heian no Mori, but it is also a famous flower spot where you can enjoy the changing seasons.

This time, in addition to the popular rape blossoms that bloom in spring, we will condense the spring charms of saikuu ruins, such as the ``Yukiyanagi'' that blooms in pure white swaying, and the ``Saio Garden'', a new photo spot!

Rape blossoms

The first thing we would like to introduce to you is the rape blossoms, which are the symbol of saikuu ruins in spring.

At saikuu Ruins, in spring, rapeseed fields of various sizes appear all over the historic site!

*The best time to see them is usually from early March to April.

The charm of saikuu 's rape blossom fields is that the Kintetsu train runs right next to them!

On holidays, many people come to take photos.

The most common composition is to photograph the blue sky and the train, but personally, I also recommend photographing the rape field from an angle from above.

The contrast between the rape blossoms illuminated by the spring sun and the green grass with young new shoots is so vivid!

The calm colors of the rape blossom field at dusk are also lovely.

It's still cold in the mornings and evenings, so please wear warm clothes when you go out.

Along the railroad tracks of saikuu ruins, there is a wide restored road that recreates saikuu ruins of the time.
No vehicles can enter this road, so children can play safely.

I was challenging the train to a race, but I lost easily (lol)

Yuki willow (Snow willow)

The next thing we'd like to introduce to you is Yuki Willow, which blooms in pure white as if flowing through the sky.
It is a shrub that blooms white like snow in spring with weeping-like branches.

Although it is less well-known than cherry blossoms and rape blossoms, which are popular flowers that bloom in spring, the swaying white flowers that bloom in abundance are a special sight that can only be seen in spring!

The best time to see Yuki willows is usually from late March to early April.

When the flowers bloom all at once, ItsukinomiyaHallforHistorical in front of saikuu Station is softly covered with white, snow-like flowers.

Yuki willow flowers have a short height of 1 to 2 meters, so just by sitting under the tree, a child can create a fantastic picture of being buried in the flowers falling like snow.

I especially recommend it because you can easily take cute pictures of small children and pets such as dogs!

In the evening, the Yuki willow sparkles in the setting sun.

The blooming period of Yuki willow is relatively short, so you can enjoy the blooming without missing the best time by checking the blooming status on the website of Itsukinomino or the Regional Exchange Center.

Please come and see the Yuki Willow, which is my personal favorite flower! !

Saio's Garden "Sky and Wind Flowers"

Saio's Garden is a new spot where 23,000 pots of bright flowers bloom over an area of approximately 1,200 square meters.
It was created in the winter of 2021 through the efforts of volunteers who planted seedlings such as violas and pansies, and the flower garden is designed to reflect the history of MeiwaTown.

You can look out over the entire area from the observation deck installed, and you can see the design inspired by the night sky, rainbows, and the twelve hites.

My children must have been too excited, but they performed some incredible dances (lol).

The flower garden I photographed in March 2022 is the first part of the Saio Garden series, and the second part of the Saio Garden series is scheduled for May to November 2022. .

Can't you help but dance? I'm looking forward to the second installment of the equally beautiful "Saio's Garden."

plum grove

There is also a plum grove in saikuu ruins where red and white plums bloom, and the best time to see them is usually from late January to early March.

In addition, cherry blossoms are at their best from late March to mid-April, so you can enjoy all the flowers that bloom in spring at saikuu ruins!

On a sunny day, go to saikuu Ruins, which is filled with the charm of spring!

This concludes my introduction to saikuu Ruins in Spring.

Summer flowers and autumn cosmos are also popular at saikuu ruins, so you can enjoy a different scenery than in spring.

It's adjacent to Kintetsu saikuu Station and has a free parking lot, so it's easily accessible.

This spring, be sure to enjoy cherry blossom viewing at Saiku, the romantic place of the dynasty where Saio, who served Amaterasu saikuu, lived!
