Introducing the latest research results

This exhibition will feature the Ueno Castle Ruins, Asami Ruins, Toseki Ruins, Futatsuzuka Ruins, Fukada Ruins, and Fukada Ruins, for which a report was published in 2020, among the archaeological materials kept by the Mie Prefecture Buried Cultural Properties Center. Artifacts excavated from ancient tombs, Kanazawa River ruins, etc. will be exhibited.

1) Ueno Castle Ruins (Ueno Marunouchi IgaCity)
During the excavation survey of the Todo Genba mansion site conducted in 2021, the remains of an Edo-era garden such as a pond and well were found, and a large amount of ceramics and other items were unearthed. did. Approximately 10 items will be on display, including a tile with the Todo family crest on it and a piece of pottery with ink calligraphy on it with the word ``Otsugitsuki'', which is thought to refer to the successor's attendant.

2) Asami Ruins (MatsusakaCity Tamachi, Wayamachi)
At the Asami ruins, relics from a wide range of eras, from the Jomon period to the Kamakura period, have been unearthed. Approximately 15 items will be on display, including stone arrowheads and stone axes from the Jomon period, and Haji pottery pots excavated from square-shaped tombs dating from the end of the Yayoi period to the beginning of the Kofun period.

3) Toseki Ruins (Tokuda-cho, Suzuka SuzukaCity)
Relics from various eras, from the Yayoi period to the Edo period, have been unearthed at the Toseki ruins. At the time of the excavation, this area was a paddy field, but it is thought that from the Kofun period onwards, villages were built during dry and warm periods, and it was used as cultivated land during humid periods. Approximately 6 items will be on display, including small pottery stands from the early Kofun period.

4) Futatsuzuka Ruins (Yanagicho, Suzuka SuzukaCity)
The Futatsuzuka ruins are located on the west bank of the downstream Kanazawa River that flows through SuzukaCity. So far, remains of pit buildings from the Yayoi period to the Kofun period and buildings with dug-in pillars from the Heian period have been confirmed. Approximately 5 items will be on display, including a high cup from the Yayoi period and a jar with a stand.

5) Fukada Ruins/Fukada Tumulus Group (Higashi Tamagaki-cho, Suzuka SuzukaCity)
The Fukada ruins are located to the west of the Futatsuzuka ruins. Clay clay figures were unearthed during excavations in 1978. In a survey conducted in 2018, a ditch thought to be surrounding a tumulus where a large amount of clay was unearthed was confirmed, indicating that multiple tumuli existed at this location, and the area was registered as part of the Fukada tumulus group. I did. Approximately 10 items will be on display, including figural clay figures (people and horses) excavated from the ditch surrounding the ancient tomb.

6) Kanazawa River Ruins (Kishioka-cho, Suzuka SuzukaCity)
The Kanazawa River Ruins are located on the south bank of the lower reaches of the Kanazawa River, south of the Futatsuzuka Ruins. A survey conducted in 2020 confirmed the remains of a grave believed to date from the late Kofun period, as well as ancient ditches. Approximately 5 items will be on display, including a high Sue pottery cup.
