Date: Second Saturday and Sunday in October every year

The Whale Boat Event is a festival where various prayers are made to the gods, imitating the ancient whale fishing method of harpooning whales that had wandered into Ise Bay.
Tennomaru, a float shaped like a whaling boat, is pulled around to the tune of whaling songs and drums, and at the climax of the song, young dancers (dancers) kill the papier-mâché whale at the end of the shaft.
It is held every year on the second Saturday and Sunday of October as part of the autumn festival at Iino Shrine in nago.
The whale boat is made of wooden stucco and measures 5.8 m in length, 2.4 m in height, and 1.5 m in width, and is decorated with gold leaf painting and dragon carvings.
The origins of this festival, in which harpoons are fired at papier-mâché whales, are unknown, but it is said that it was held during the Tenno Festival on August 1st in the first year of the Meiji era. It was discontinued for a long time after ending in 1960, but it was revived in October 1991 after 25 years, and in March 1992, it was designated as an intangible folk cultural property of SuzukaCity. This will be the 31st time the event has been held.
This whaling event is one of the representative festivals of the Northerners, and is currently held at six locations in Mie Prefecture, including Suzuka and Yokkaichi.
