Ohatsuki ginkgo which bears fruit on the leaves

The Ohatsu ginkgo in the precincts of Ryozenji Temple, located halfway up a sacred mountain overlooking the Iga Basin.
Ohatsukicho is a variety of ginkgo that bears fruits on the leaves. It is an academically interesting variety, with a larger tree body and better appearance than other trees of the same species. At the peak of autumn leaves, the leaves turn a brilliant color and countless ginkgo trees are scattered around the area.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on March 7, 1996 (Heisei 8).
