An impressive garden of 3,000 rhododendrons of 200 varieties

This rhododendron garden is open to the public only during the flowering period from early April to May.

Rhododendrons are called the ``Queen of Flowering Trees'' due to their gorgeous and elegant appearance, with a wide variety of flower colors including red, pink, blue-purple, white, and yellow, and are considered the most popular flowering trees in Europe and America, along with roses.
At Akatsuka Botanical Garden, a part of the rhododendron production farm has been developed over many years as a rhododendron garden and is open to the public.

Approximately 3,000 rhododendrons of over 200 species, including original varieties bred and developed at Akatsuka Botanical Garden that can only be seen here, are planted in the large garden of approximately 10,000 square meters, and the rhododendrons bloom early from early April every year. The varieties have started blooming, and the flowering relay continues until around early May.

In addition, there are other flowering trees that reach their peak blooming around this time of year, such as the Japanese daisy, the Japanese witch hazel, the Japanese redbud, the Genpei peach, and the double-flowered cherry tree. Along with the rhododendrons, you can enjoy the beautiful colorful flowers.

Although the rhododendron garden is located on flat land along the prefectural road, there are tall trees such as zelkova, Japanese zelkova, and katsura, as well as large rhododendrons that are over 3 meters tall, making it a planting that gives you a sense of height. Please enjoy a leisurely stroll in spring.

Every year, during the opening period, Akatsuka Botanical Garden staff will conduct rhododendron garden tours, and there will also be a sales corner for rhododendron seedlings.

Akatsuka Rhododendron Garden facing Prefectural Route 10 is surrounded by a large rhododendron hedge. During the blooming season, a 500 meter area along the prefectural road is covered in pink flowers, pleasing the eyes of passersby.
