Matsushita Shrine's Large Camphor [Prefecturally Designated Natural Monument] Matsushita Yashiro's Large Camphor

Matsushitasha's large camphor tree
Matsushitasha's large camphor tree

A camphor tree located in the evergreen broad-leaved forest, mainly Sudajii, on the grounds of Matsushita Shrine.
The tree is said to be about 2,000 years old, and in the southwest corner of the forest there is an old camphor tree that extends its branches toward the road.
The main trunk is still about 5 meters above ground level, but its appearance is well suited to the shrine that holds the distant legend of Somin, giving it an even more majestic feel.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on November 10, 1937 (S12).
