Magose-togePass Course Walking Experience

Kumano Kodo/Iseji has 17 courses in total.
One of these days, I walked the popular Magose-togePass course!

We went!

I love traveling, but I have never walked the Kumano Kodo. I went to Magose-togePass Pass on Kumano Kodo to experience what a world heritage site is like!

START

First, we parked the car at Michi-no-eki Kaizan and started.
It's close to the entrance of Magose-togePass at 600m.

Arrived at Magose-togePass entrance! There's a big signboard so you won't get lost.
It's right near the Washige bus stop.

Magose-togePass is famous for its beautiful stone pavement,
There is such a beautiful stone pavement right from the entrance.

There is a sign like this next to the road.
Stones were piled up like a cairn.

This is ``Night Cry Jizo.''
It is said that it was given this name because the local people prayed to stop crying at night.

Found a heart-shaped (?) stone!

Arrived at the top of Magose-togePass Pass!
After enjoying the view of OwaseCity, take a break on a wooden bench.

The road from Magose-togePass to Mt. Tengukura is a steep and difficult climb.
Along the way, there is a tree that grows as if lying on a rock!

There was a big rock right before the summit of Mt. Tengukura!
The mysterious size makes you wonder why it's on the top of the mountain.

Go around the other side of the rock and climb this ladder to reach the summit.
It's quite thrilling because it's quite high!

Arrived at the mountaintop!
Enjoy a 360 degree panoramic view from the mountains to the blue ocean.

You can see a panoramic view of Owase Bay from the bottom of the rock.
The contrast between the sea and the city was very beautiful.

Sakura Jizo. It is said that it is so called because there used to be many cherry blossom trees in this area.

There are also beautiful stone steps on the way down towards OwaseCity.
Your legs will be tired on the way down, so be careful!

We took a short break at the observation pavilion. You can also overlook the city of Owase from here. It is said to be a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing in spring.

After passing Magoshi Park, we arrived at Yamakirai, a mountain hut-style coffee shop on the left.

We took a break with chocolate cake and cheesecake.
The seasonal mountain peach juice also looks delicious.

Owase Shrine is located on the way back from the bus stop.
The two large camphor trees, which are kounogi trees, are surprisingly over 9 meters long!

GOAL

I took a bus from ``Prefectural Owase General Office Building'' and returned to Michi-no-eki Kaizan.
it was fun!

Try actually walking...

Magose-togePass, which is said to be the ``most beautiful stone pavement'' on the Iseji Route, has a Kumano Kodo style feel, and the beautiful cypress forest smells of greenery, which was very soothing.

At first, I found the cobblestone path difficult to walk, but after walking for a while, I quickly got used to it, and I think it's a relatively easy course even for beginner mountain hikers.

This time I went up to Mt. Tengukurayama, but the climb to the top was steep and difficult.
However, the view from the top of the mountain is spectacular and your fatigue will be blown away!
This is a spot you should definitely visit if you have the energy.

There are many other courses besides Magose-togePass, so I wanted to try walking on the other courses as well.
