Kasamatsu Kawazu Sakura Road

Kasamatsu Kawazu-zakura Road is a place where you can admire about 350 Kawazu-zakura trees, and there is a 1.5 km long line of Kawazu-zakura trees along the agricultural canal in Kasamatsu-cho, MatsusakaCity.

FugamaruKawazu-zakura is an early-blooming cherry tree that typically blooms around late February every year. The cherry blossoms are characterized by a deeper pink color than the Somei Yoshino cherry trees.

The beautiful reflection of Chamu Kawazucherry blossoms has become a hot topic on social media! Its popularity has increased rapidly in the last few years ♫

There are ornamental boats moored in the waterway, and the pictures of ``cherry blossoms and boats'' are very picturesque.

The above photo was taken from near the temporary parking lot on Kasamatsu Kawazu Sakura Road. When there is no wind or a light breeze, the fluctuations on the water surface calm down and beautiful reflections appear. It looks even more fantastic when the weather is blue and cloudy.

kahadavalley

kahadavalley is a gorge located along National Route 166 in MatsusakaCity. The valley is filled with cycling and touring tourists as it offers seasonal scenery such as cherry blossoms, fresh greenery, and autumn leaves.

The beauty of the valley can be seen from along National Route 166, and the clear stream of the Kushida River, sparkling in emerald green, flows along the road.

There are many ways to enjoy kahadavalley. You can enjoy activities in the great outdoors, such as playing in the river, going down the river by boat or kayak, cycling along the river while taking a forest bath, camping, or staying overnight in a cottage ♫

The river that flows near Hase Station allows you to experience the beauty of kahadavalley Gorge up close.

There are many shallow areas with calm currents, so you can enjoy swimming in the river in the summer.

The river in Chamukokois extremely transparent, and when there is a lot of water, you can see it sparkling with an emerald blue color. You can park your car at Hase Station, making it easy to sightsee from afar.

Michi-no-eki Chakura station

"Michi-no-eki Chakura Station" is Michi-no-eki along National Route 166 where you can enjoy delicious gourmet food and spectacular views.

The station building, which looks like a log house, is located on top of a small hill, and is a popular place for tourists and local residents to relax.

From the outdoor observation deck, you can see the large suspension bridge below and enjoy a vast view of the town.

Near the observation deck there are stairs that lead down to a suspension bridge, and by crossing the bridge you can access Riverside Chakura, which has camping and barbecue facilities.

Every year around Golden Week, the area around the station building is filled with beautiful azaleas. The best time to see azaleas is around the beginning of May, and in 2021 they reached their peak on May 2nd.

Dandan rice field in Fukano

Fukano Dandan-ta is a rice terrace located in the Fukano district of Iinan-cho MatsusakaCity. It is said to have been developed from the middle of the Muromachi period to the early Edo period, and there are about 120 stone terraced rice fields built on the slope of the mountain.

FugamaruFukano's Dandan rice field is called ``stone art'' and has a landscape that looks just like the stone walls of a castle.

Chamu is a terraced rice field where you will be overwhelmed by the wisdom, skill, and effort of the people of the past.

In this area, which was an important base for the Kitabatake clan during the Muromachi period, there is a ``Noroshiba'' to the west of Mt. Shiranui, and it is said that terraced rice fields were cultivated to ensure food for the samurai who stood guard. Masu.

FugamaruOriginally, the Fukano area was not blessed with arable land, and the production of Japanese paper and other products had been popular since ancient times.

Since the Meijiera, cattle fattening has become popular, and the area is known as the ``birthplace of Matsusaka beef.'' We will introduce Matsusaka beef in detail in the article below.

A reflection (water mirror) is a sight that can be seen immediately after the rice terraces are filled with water. The blue sky and clouds reflected in the rice terraces are magical.

Matsuzaka Castle Ruins

Matsusaka Castle Ruins is the site of Matsusaka Castle, which was built by Ujisato Gamo, and is now a symbol of Matsusaka with its magnificent stone walls remaining.

FugamaruMatsuzaka Castle Ruins was selected as one of Japan's top 100 castles in 2006, and was designated as a nationally designated historic site in 2011.

There is an observation spot from within the castle ruins that overlooks the Matsusaka townscape, giving you a glimpse of the castle town.

The view from the Tokugawa Jinya ruins of theFugamaru Matsuzaka Castle ruins is a great spot where you can especially feel the vestiges of the castle town!

From here you can see the cobblestonewalkway and the quaint samurai residence, which is called GojobanYashiki.

The road leading to the ruins of the castle tower is lined with stone walls made of open-faced pilings, and the sight of stones of various sizes and shapes piled up is awe-inspiring!

One of the most recommended is Sukezaemon Gomon, which is located beyond the MatsusakaCity City History and Folklore Museum (OzuYasujiro).

GojobanYashiki

GojobanYashiki is a samurai residence where 20 samurai who served as the guard of Matsuzaka Castle and their families lived.

Samurai residences line both sides of the stone pavement that connects the back gate of the Matsuzaka Castle ruins to the Takego Monzeki, making it the largest existing nagaya samurai residence.

Descendants still live GojobanYashikiFugamaru Ojo Banmanyashiki, and the building is maintained and managed by them.

Chamuis over 150 years old! In 2004, it was designated as a national important cultural property.

GojobanYashiki is made up of 19 units in both the east and west wings, of which the one at the north end of the west wing is open to the public for tours free of charge.

Opening hours are 10:00 to 16:00, closed on Mondays and New Year's holidays.

Retro furniture and tools are on display inside the building, giving you a glimpse of life in the past.

The inside of the Fugamarubuilding is characterized by a spacious dirt floor with no ceiling, and the floor plan that has existed since the Edo period has been faithfully preserved.

Former Hasegawa Jirobei family

The former Hasegawa Jirobe family is the main residence of the Hasegawa Jirobe family, whose trade name was Tanbaya, a cotton wholesaler from the Edo period.

The FugamaruHasegawa family cotton wholesaler was so successful that they opened five shops in temmacho 1-chome, Edo.

The situation is depicted in Hiroshige Utagawa's ``Toto Otenma Gaihan Einozu.''

The building contains commercial materials, old documents, commercial tools, daily necessities, etc. that have been kept since the company's founding, and some of them are on display.

There is a strolling garden behind the storehouse, where you can feel the beauty of ancient Japan.

ChamuThe garden is so large and beautiful that it is difficult to believe that it is a private residence. There is a teahouse in the outbuilding.

Iinan High School Hananoki

Hananoki at Iinan High School is a fall foliage spot in MatsusakaCity where you can see bright red autumn leaves. It is a magnificent Japanese red tree that is about 25 meters tall and is located on the lawn of Mie Prefectural Iinan High School.

Fugamaruis a huge tree that is approximately 80 to 90 years old and has a trunk circumference of 4 meters. It is said that the name "hananoki" comes from the red flowers that bloom before the leaves open.

Chamuis characterized by flowers blooming in the spring and leaves turning bright red in the fall.

The leaves of the Hananoki trees at Iinami High School turn red from around early November, and reach their peak of autumn leaves in mid-November.

TenkaizanTaiunjiTemple

TenkaizanTaiunjiTemple-ji is a temple located in the Hase district of Iidaka-cho MatsusakaCity, and is popular as the Kannon goddess of child-giving. The precincts are surrounded by nature, and you can enjoy the scenery in each season: cherry blossoms and rhododendrons in spring, fresh greenery in summer, and autumn leaves in autumn.

The octagonal bronze bell "Hakkaku Dosho" on the grounds is a large bell with a height of 2.65m and a diameter of 1.35m, and is designated as a tangible cultural property of Mie Prefecture.

The top of the bell is decorated with eight dragons, and each side is inscribed with one volume of the Lotus Sutra, totaling 69,384 characters from eight volumes.

In autumn, the autumn leaves spread around the Octagonal Copper Bell, and you can enjoy the elegant and beautiful autumn scenery.

If you take a photo of the Octagonal Copper Bell from the approach during the autumn foliage season, the ginkgo tree will be reflected in the background, creating a beautiful sight of the gradation of red, orange, and yellow autumn leaves.
