Ise Mountaintop Spring Door Opening Festival (Iifukuda Temple)
Date: 4th Sunday of April every year (April 28, 2024)
This year's door opening ceremony will be held as usual. A fire walk will also be held.
Ise Sanjo, the mecca of Shugendo, will open its Iwaya main hall on this day.
The leaders dressed as Yamabushi perform a large goma memorial service by blowing conch shells and pray for the safety of hikers during the period.
(The mountain climbing area on Mt. Ise can be accessed all year round.)
