Seizu's Fuuran community [Prefecturally designated natural monument] Seizu's Fuuran colony
This is a large colony of Orchid orchid, a type of evergreen epiphytic orchid, attached to a persimmon tree in the backyard of a private house.
It produces many white flowers from mid-July to August, and is fragrant.
This backyard is located in a valley that opens to the southeast, and has moderate wind exposure, temperature, and atmospheric humidity, creating the environmental conditions necessary for the propagation of epiphytic orchids.
After germination, it takes many years for the persimmons to multiply, and because they have a short lifespan, it is said that it is extremely rare for them to settle on persimmon trees and form communities.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on March 26, 1991 (H3).
