Ichinose Shishi Kagura [Prefecturally Designated Cultural Property] Ichinose Shishi Kagura

lion dance
lion dance

Date: Sunday, February 11, 2024 (second Sunday in February every year)

This dance is performed to pray for the parishioners' wishes for peace, health, good harvest, mutual aid, and prosperity, and is performed in each of the four districts of Minami Nakamura, Wakide, Ichiba, and Waino.
The content is unique for each region, but it is mainly composed of lions, tengu, and singers, and when the dance is performed, a celebratory kagura song is sung.
Because each lion has the same three-pronged crest, it is said that it began when three of the four lions kept in the corner turret were given away.
It was designated as an intangible folk cultural property by the prefecture on March 28, 1983 (S58).
Held on the second Sunday of February every year.
