Lion dance ritual to pray for the elimination of epidemics and good health

This is a lion dance ritual held on the third Saturday and Sunday of February every year.
On the day before the annual festival (Saturday), at five community centers in Shimotanabe, Hane, Chaya, Nishiseko, and Asakuta.
A large lion dances to ward off evil spirits.
On the day of the regular festival (Sunday), after the ceremony at Tamaru Shrine, a number of rituals are performed around the Tamaru and Sada areas.
・Water mirror
At Tamaru Ohashi Bridge in Katsuta-machi, a lion's head will be reflected on the water surface and the divine dance will be performed to restore its disturbed appearance.

・Nose burning ritual
At the end of the tour, the lion head, which has warded off all misfortunes among the parishioners, is placed near Sada Kunio Shrine and is purified with a straw fire, making the misfortune disappear.
It has been said since ancient times that having your head bitten by a lion head will bring you good health and longevity, improve your intelligence, and cure you of illness, and it is also believed that receiving the lion's paper hair and using it as a talisman will bring you good luck.
