The 61st Ise Lobster Festival will be held inHamajima Town, ShimaCity, Mie Prefecture on Saturday, June 1st, 2024!

This festival is held to express gratitude for seafood, especially spiny lobsters, and to pray for a good catch and safety. The highlight of the festival is the "Jakoppe Dance," which is so much fun that it gets even the spectatorsmoving,livening up the excitement of the festival!!

This time,in conjunction with the Ise Lobster Festival, wewould like to introduce it as a topic to let you know about the charm of the festival.

What is the Ise Lobster Festival?

The Ise Lobster Festival is held on the first Saturday of June every year in Hamajimacho ShimaCity Prefecture. It is a festival to give thanks for the seafood, including Ise lobsters, and to pray for a good catch and safety.

This festival began in 1961 and is currently held at the main venue, yanohama Beach in Hamajima Seaside Park, and has become a major event that colors the early summer in Ise-Shima.

At the Ise Lobster Festival, various events are held and there is a lot to see! Many tourists visit every year and it is a lively event.

Highlights of the Ise Lobster Festival

Ceremony (Thanksgiving)

The Ise Lobster Festivalbegins with a ceremony.

Prayers and dances are performed solemnly to express gratitude for the seafood and to pray for a good catch and safety.

Lobster longevity soup, ShimaCity specialties market

At the Ise Lobster Festival, many food stalls are set up, with plenty of delicious food!

You can try local specialties and famous products such as "Ise shrimp longevity soup" and "sea urchin rice"!

Jakope Dance

The Jakoppe Dance, the biggest event of the Ise Lobster Festival,is a must-see!

Each team, called a group, performs a dance in a colorful and elaborate costume.

Along with the lively rhythm of the Ise ebi accompaniment, the spirited calls of "En'yasa! Yoiyasa!" enhance the Jakoppe dance!

Nighttime Lobster Festival

As night falls, the excitement of the Ise Lobster Festival reaches a climax.

The festival reaches its climax, and all the Jakoppe teams come together to dance!

For the finale, fireworks will light up the Shima night sky!

In this article,we introduced the 61st Ise-Ebi Festival, including photos from the previous festival. The previous festival was held on a smaller scale due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the festival will be back with restrictions fully lifted!!
