Yamato Tachibana is a small evergreen tree that grows in the mountains near the coast. It belongs to the genus Citrus in the family Rutaceae and is believed to be endemic to Japan. Its white flowers bloom in May and June, and from autumn to winter it produces golden-colored fruits similar to yuzu, about 2.5 cm in diameter.
