Funanji Temple

It is said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku, and Taiheizan Muryojuji Temple and Fudarakuzan Funanji Temple merged after the Tensho military disaster and were named Taiheizan Funanji Temple, and is the quasi-special head temple of the Omuro school of the Shingon sect, with a second-class temple status. This is the hospital.

The principal image of Muryojuji Temple, Amida Nyorai, is called ``Amida of the Kokufu'' and is considered to be the main Buddha of IseJingu Naiku, the inner shrine of Ise Jingu. It is also called Kannon, and the elegant statues of Bishamonten and Katsugun Jizo are enshrined on the left and right side stands. Therefore, there are two principal idols at Taiheizan Funanji Temple.

The wooden Kongorikishi statue, which is designated as a national important cultural property, is said to be an authentic work of Unkei, according to the Funanji Journal, and is 2.12 meters tall and has a jade eye made of marquetry. All of them are simple yet dynamic, full of dashing spirit, and have a real-life, Kamakura-like quality.

On the east side of the back gate, a Japanese pear tree, designated as a natural monument by the prefecture, grows. Flowering occurs from early to mid-April.
