A deciduous tree belonging to the rose family right in front of the east gate of Funanji Temple.
It is said to be somewhere between the dog pear and the cultivated pear, and its seeds rarely germinate, making it an extremely rare botanical plant.
This pear tree is said to be the second one discovered in Japan.
Many thick stumps separate from the center, and in spring, pure white flowers bloom overlapping each other.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on April 1, 1972 (S47).
