This is the ruins of a mountain villa that served as a fort for the Seki clan, a samurai clan that ruled the entire Suzuka Kameyama area during the medieval period (Kamakura to Sengoku period).
It is said that famous renga master Munenaga and others visited here and held poetry parties. This was uncovered through excavations that began in 1977, and is valuable in elucidating the life of the Sengoku samurai, and was designated as a national historic site in 1981.
Nowadays, it is a famous spot for viewing about 200 cherry blossom trees, and is crowded with many cherry blossom viewing visitors.
