A long time ago, a large willow tree in Yoji-no-Sato was cut down to serve as the ridgepole for Kyoto's Sanjusangen-do Temple in order to relieve the headaches of Emperor Goshirakawa.
It is said that a hall was built on top of the stump and a medicine Buddha carved from a willow branch was enshrined there.
It is also known as Heiyu-ji Temple, and is designated as a cultural property of the town.
Founding date: Oei 18 (1411)
