A 3m tall cherry blossom tree planted in the front garden of the main hall of Chotokuji Temple.
It is a rare species that flowers and leaves appear at the same time, and blooms in late April, after the pale pink, five-petaled, Someiyoshino cherry trees, and wild cherry trees have bloomed.
Chotoku-ji Temple is also called Ryuo-ji Temple, and legend has it that the dragon king who lived in the deep water in front of the temple gave cherry blossom seeds and dragon scales to the priest and taught him how to pray for rain in the dry sky.
It was designated as a prefectural natural monument on February 1, 1941 (S16).
