It is the largest keyhole-shaped tumulus in northern Mie, with a total length of 90m, a diameter of 54m at the rear circular part, and a height of 9m.
Based on the chronicle's description that Nihon Takeru died at Nohono in Ise Province on his way back from the Eastern Conquest, the Ministry of Home Affairs designated it as the "Nihon Takeru Nohono Tomb" in 1898, and it is still the tomb of Nihon Takeru today. It is managed by the Imperial Household Agency.
Nearby is Nobononomori Park, which takes advantage of its history, nature, and atmosphere.
