Special feature on driving spots in Mie Prefecture♪

Let's go on a driving trip where you can feel the refreshing breeze!
The Ise-Shima Skyline, where you can see the sparkling sea, and AoyamaPlateau, where you can feel the majestic nature, are perfect for a drive for a change of pace!
We also recommend relaxing at spots full of negative ions, such as the "miraculous clear stream" Choshi River's Uobi Valley and TheAkame48Falls, or taking a stroll along the Kumano Kodo and becoming one with nature!

Why not refresh yourself by visiting the best spots for a drive?

Ise Shima Skyline (IseCity)

Ise Shima Skyline

The magnificent panorama of Ise Bay is spectacular! You can enjoy a 360-degree view of the spectacular scenery while soaking in the footbath.
On a clear day, you can even see the Japanese Alps and Mt. Fuji. In the vast 150,000 square meter garden at the top of the mountain, you can enjoy seasonal flowers such as Asaguma Nanakusa and Jingu Azalea, and there are also hammocks and walking trails.
There is also a photo spot called ` The Post in the sky'' on the mountaintop observation deck!

Near the top of the mountain, there is Kongosho-ji Temple, a famous temple of the Nanzen-ji sect, which has been famous for a long time ago, saying, ``If you visit Ise KongoshojiTemple you...''. This temple is also known as the inner temple of the shrine, as it protects the demon gate of IseJingu. The main hall is designated as an important cultural property and is dedicated to one of Japan's three great Kokuzo Bodhisattvas.

The Post in the sky (IseCity)

Ise Shima Skyline Asakumacho Observation Deck has a nostalgic mailbox, which is called the `` The Post in the sky''.
The official name is "No. 1 round post" and it is a type that was active from the postwar period to the 1950s, and its nostalgic appearance blends into nature and the landscape.
Collection and delivery operations are carried out every day except Sunday, and people who stop by the mountaintop can purchase stamps and postcards at the shop and have them mailed.

This The Post in the sky was selected as the third lover's sacred place (satellite) in Mie Prefecture by the NPO Regional Revitalization Support Center's ``Lover's Sacred Land Project''.
Instead of using SNS or email, please try using The Post in the sky for "love letters," "marriage reports," "marriage registration," "current status reports," etc. in a very "analog" way!

AoyamaPlateau (TsuCity)

Located in the center of Murou Akame-Aoyama Quasi-National Park, you can enjoy all seasons on the gently rolling plateau. In spring, clusters of Japanese azaleas and rhododendrons are in full bloom, followed by small red flowers of dianthus, in autumn the white spikes of pampas grass are waving, and in winter, the frost-covered trees are beautiful.

You can enjoy a 12 km drive through the plateau from Mt. Kasatori at the northern tip of the plateau to Aoyama Pass. Dozens of windmills have been built near the top, making it a large-scale wind power generation facility. You can get up close to the wind power generation facility, and it is a must-see as it is very impressive!

TheAkame48Falls (NabariCity)

TheAkame48Falls is a beautiful piece of natural art created by numerous waterfalls connected upstream of the Takigawa River that flows on the border between Iga and Yamato. It is located in the center of Murou Akame-Aoyama Quasi-National Park and is approximately 4 kilometers long.

The mysterious nature of Akame has been selected as one of the 100 best waters of the Heisei era, 100 best waterfalls in Japan, 100 best forests for forest bathing, and 100 best walks. Osugidani (Odai Town, OdaiTown)

An unexplored region remaining in the upper reaches of the Miyagawa River. The valley is filled with rapids, cliffs, and hundreds of waterfalls. Although it is a dense area of primeval forest, there are also walkways and suspension bridges. However, it is not possible to complete the entire course in a day, and the path is steep, so it is recommended for intermediate and advanced climbers.

There are 7 waterfalls and 11 suspension bridges along the mountain trail, and the dynamic nature spreads out. It has been selected as one of Japan's three major valleys and one of Japan's top 100 unexplored regions.

The mountain trail, which was closed due to the disaster in 2004, has been reopened and is now passable since the opening of the mountain in 2014.

Magose-togePass (Kumano Kodo Iseji) (Kihoku Town, KihokuTown)

A popular mountain pass on the border of KihokuTown and OwaseCity, the stone pavement, which is said to be the best on the Kumano Kodo Iseji Route, continues through a beautiful forest of Owase cypress trees. There are many historical sites such as the Night Cry Jizo that remain, allowing you to experience the atmosphere of the Kumano Kodo.

From the pass, there are also hiking trails that lead to the peaks of Mt. Tengukura and Mt. Binishi, both of which offer spectacular views. Magoshi Park, located at the bottom of the mountain pass, is also a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing, and is a popular spot that many people visit in the spring.

Uohi Gorge (Kihoku Town, KihokuTown)

This spot was featured on an NHK special as ``A river where you can see the invisible - the miraculous clear stream of the Choshi River'' and received a great response.

Huge rocks and strange stones eroded by clear streams create a beautiful valley spanning approximately 1km.
It is very popular as a place to play in the river, with rocks the size of tennis courts. Jumping into the cold water is refreshing.

It was named Uohikei because of the river fish such as sweetfish and amago flying around. The water is so clear that you can clearly see the river bottom and the fish.

ShichiriMihamaBeach (KumanoCity)

It is the longest gravel beach in Japan, stretching approximately 22 km from KumanoCity to KihoTown, and has been selected along with other kachiji across the country, including ``Japan's Top 100 Beaches'' and ``Top 100 Nature Desired to Preserve in the 21st Century.'' I am.

This beach, which gently receives the turbulent Kuroshio current, is paved with pebbles that have been polished by the rough waves of the Kumano Sea, which runs from the upper reaches of the Kumano River through Shingu. Colorful pebbles called ``Mihama pebbles'' are picked up by ``pickers'' and used for accessories. It is also known as a landing site for loggerhead sea turtles.

MaruyamaSenmaida (KumanoCity)

In the Maruyama district of KumanoCity, there are many small rice fields called Senmaida. The scenery is spectacular, and it is said to be the best terraced rice field scenery in Japan. There are approximately 1,340 small rice fields stacked on top of each other, so much so that it is said that ``I thought one rice field was missing, but it was hidden under the shade.''
Numerous events are held throughout the year, including rice cultivation experiences, and conservation activities are carried out by local people.
