掲載日:2022.03.30

Speaking of Iga, there are many special products such as ninja, Iga beef, and Iga-Yaki, but in fact, `` IgaKumihimoBraids'', which is designated as a traditional craft, accounts for 90% of the production of hand-made braided cords in Japan. It is a specialty of Iga, accounting for a large portion of the area! This time, I tried making traditional braids in IgaCity ♪

Iga Traditional Tradition Museum “Iga Kumihimo Kumihimo no Sato”

"Iga Kumihimo Kumihimo Village" is located right next to Iga Ueno Castle. On the 1st floor, there is a space where you can experience kumihimo and an exhibition and sales corner, and on the 2nd floor there is a resource room where you can learn about the history and traditions of kumihimo, and a kumihimo dojo for groups!

This time, this facility was selected as an "Anshin Mie Rea Excellent Store", so we would like to interview it!

One in the world! Let's make your own kumihimo♪

In the popular experience menu, `` IgaKumihimoBraids Making Experience,'' you can make key chains, bracelets, straps, etc. using 100% silk thread and gold thread using a braid stand while receiving guidance from an instructor.

If you make your own original braid with your friends and family, I think it will become a keepsake that will stay with you even after you return home.

*Individual customers (up to 7 people) are accepted at any time.
*Advance reservations are required for group customers (up to 50 people) (not possible on the day)
*For groups, we will make a keychain or bracelet.

Obijime and accessories made by craftsmen are also on display and for sale.

A variety of products were on display and for sale, from traditional obijime and haori cords to everyday fashion items such as ties and mufflers.

When you look at it up close, you can see that its construction is extremely delicate and complex. I am impressed by the craftsmanship of the craftsmen. By the way, unlike woven fabrics, which consist of warp and weft threads, braided cords have stitches that cross diagonally like the letter X, so they are more stretchy than woven fabrics.

Safe and secure checkout with contactless payment

Hands will be disinfected in two places: upon entering the facility and before entering the experience.

The rooms used for the experience will also be ventilated by opening the sliding doors, and the number of people will be limited. What's more, the cushions and round tables used for the experience are thoroughly disinfected each time.
As it is an experience facility, there is bound to be contact with other people, but they are working on countermeasures by strictly adhering to the concept of ``silent experience.''

Additionally, during the coronavirus pandemic, we were among the first to introduce contactless payment systems such as electronic money. We are also actively working on introducing new systems to give our customers peace of mind.
